Silly Spooky Monsterous

A prototype of the “Drawing” Lissajous Oscilloscope Synthesizer (DLOSy-I) — an audio-visual synthesizer built upon oscilloscope-style Lissajous figures.
It treats the sound being heard as an image (via electrical signals), and by “drawing” the waveform on the visual display, the sound is directly altered through the image-electrical-signal pathway.

This session was performed using DLOSy-I (Nagasena) for experimental sounds, and a Moog synthesizer (Rin) for powerful rhythmic sounds.

With DLOSy-I (mainly built by Nagasena), we can control frequency via CV using a DIY temperature-sensitive module (mainly built by Rin) — allowing frequency modulation by applying heat or cold sources such as a freeze spray or a hot glue gun — as effectively as with a ready-made CV module such as the Korg SQ-1.

DLOSy-I：Drawing Lissajous Oscilloscope Synthesizer-I は、オシロスコープ上のリサージュ図形を基盤に構築された、音とイメージとが結ばれたオーディオ・ヴィジュアル・シンセサイザーのプロトタイピングのひとつである。
この装置は、聴こえる音を電気信号として描き出し、また同時にその波形を手で“描く”行為そのものによって、音がかたちを変えていく。

本セッションでは、Nagasena による DLOSy-I が実験的な音-イメージを、Rin による Moog シンセサイザーが音楽的な力強いリズムを担った。

さらに DLOSy-I には、Rin が制作した自作の温度感応モジュールが接続されており、冷却スプレーやホットグルーガンといった道具を介して、周波数が変調される。
同時にKorg SQ-1 のような既製モジュールとも接続可能で、DLOSy-Iはモジュラーシンセサイザーとして組み込んで使えるVCOのひとつを目指した。
