The transition towards a green economy negatively impacts the most vulnerable part of the population and it must be fair, inclusive and involving every part of the society. The Art of Just Transition is a space where voices of the community converge to explore what a ‘just transition’ truly means. This event brings together an artist, a scientist and an independent research & policy analyst to examine the ecological, social, and political dimensions of the green transition, using creative expression to illuminate urgent environmental and justice issues.

Through interdisciplinary discussion, The Art of Just Transition addresses the interconnected challenges of inequality, climate justice, and urban ecologies, enabling new perspectives. By connecting diverse disciplines, this event invites dialogues, and provokes critical thought, inspiring radical imagination and meaningful change to shape the life of the society.

We invite the wider community and communities of interest to join us in this open conversation, and to share their insights and perspectives. Time is set before and after the talk to gather informally. Participants will be encouraged to ask questions and share their thoughts and experience in a relaxed exchange, blurring the usual roles of panellist and audience.

Entangled Life, supported by Community Foundation Ireland, is a programme exploring the deep connections between climate, society, and the ecosystems where art and community intertwine. This initiative unravels heterogeneous climate and social topics, by understanding ecology as a complex web of relationships—between humans, the more-than-human world, and political and natural environments. 

Entangled Life aims to provide space to facilitate a network of relationships, collaboration and engagement within the community. Over the course of 8 months the project will bring together community participants, artists and experts for a series of monthly panel talks, workshops and artistic interventions at Pallas Projects, culminating in an exhibition in December 2025.

Events take place Wednesdays, 6–8pm. Participants are welcome to attend some or all events

Entangled Life: The Art of Just Transition - Panel Talk

In this episode, Steph B and Geni Lou, two international cultural producers, discuss their journeys and perspectives on working as cultural entrepreneurs in the arts. Both started in dance and organically transitioned into producing, driven by a desire to support artists and projects. They highlight the shift from simply responding to opportunities to strategically seeking them out, focusing on building sustainable models, securing diverse funding streams (beyond project-based grants common in the UK), and cultivating strong relationships. They share insights on the challenges of freelancing, balancing financial needs with artistic integrity, and the value of varied experiences for a broader perspective and greater empathy in the field. They also touch upon the humbling experience of living and working in different countries and adapting to new cultural contexts.

On this BONUS EPISODE of CASCADE OF HISTORY, Feliks Banel tours the historic "U.S. Immigrant Station and Assay Office" on the south edge of downtown Seattle with Brian Lane, one of the many artists who have studio spaces inside the former U.S. government facility.

Brian Lane is a printmaker and letterpress artist who's had a studio in the building for 12 years. He's an arts educator, and is deeply committed to his art, as well as to sharing the history of the old immigration facility - and especially how that history intersects with his work, with current events, and with the work of others artists who have spaces there.

The non-profit group Friends of Inscape will hold the holiday season edition of their twice-a-year-only open studios event on Saturday, December 6, 2025 from 12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m. Admission is free. The event features dozens of artists and crafts vendors offering their wares, thought-provoking history displays about specific elements and places within the former immigration facility, and peeks inside some of the most distinctive studio spaces in the Pacific Northwest.
