After many conversations and a few listening sessions, it was apparent that "Broken Layers" was just what the label needed. This release is packed with jazz & broken beat vibes, and is co written by BluShift, also from Johannesburg. The formidable pair known as Glass Slipper — Brad Eller and Lisa Cork-Twiss — continues to delve into their varied sonic roots for a unique perspective on dance music, ably transmitted on their fantastic new single for Viva Recordings, "Money Can't."

A product of Houston’s music scene, Lisa's early forays into music brought her to the Eurodance group Real McCoy from 1996 to 1998. Brad forged his own path, cutting his teeth as a DJ during San Francisco’s famed house music explosion in the early 2000s. After graduating from mixing records to live performance, Brad began making studio-based productions before moving to Austin. Then Brad read a 2013 interview with Lisa and reached out to her for a remote collaboration. The two realized they resided in the same area. It wasn’t long before this combination of voice and production led to the formation of Glass Slipper. Acclaimed singles for Oh So Coy, Large Music, Quantize, Foliage Records, and others have followed.

"Money Can't" is an exhilarating gourmet of uplifting house music. The classic elements of punchy four-on-the-floor rhythm, staccato piano chords, and bouncing sub-bass are all here in force, accented by spacious synthesizer textures and a rousing, soulful vocal from Lisa Cork-Twiss. The track builds mightily, its message of "money can't buy love" primed to bring the dancefloor together in a shared celebration of beats and melody. Also on deck are a Dub, an Instrumental, and a Radio Mix for DJs looking for those fiery options. Slip into something electrifying!

Duwayne Motley's house music bona fides have few equals. Over the years, the prolific Charleston-based DJ and producer created exceptional sounds for the likes of Salted, King Street Sounds, Glasgow Underground, and quite a few more. "Come Get Me," Duwayne's 2009 release on Nervous Records upped the ante, receiving much acclaim and being selected for Nervous Records' best of compilation, Nervous House 20, mixed by CJ Mackintosh. Viva Recordings was among those who took notice and released Duwayne Motley's collaboration with Zandrina, "Gave Up On Love," in 2021.

Now Duwayne returns to Viva for an exhilarating house music statement, "Saturday Night." A chunky four-on-the-floor club bounce leads to sparkling layers of keys, strings, and staccato plucks as an uplifting vocal, once again from Zandrina, praises the virtues of Saturday night. This one is pure disco dynamite, beaming energy straight to the dancefloor in the form of percussive laser fills. Duwayne has also handily provided a Dub that takes the groove into deeper realms, looping and filtering the main keys while building the other elements smoothly on top. This one's a definite future staple for weekend peak time.

Points on the map converge as Minneapolis' Dan Laino (Phunk Junk, Bubble n Twist), Fresno's Jason Merle (4E&A Records, Viva), and acclaimed Leeds, UK-based vocalist Becka Ward (S&S Chicago, Let There Be House) converge for the fantastic new Viva Recordings single, "I Want You." The original flows like a deep house dream as floaty pads, an old-school bass line ride, and subdued house beats support Becka's emotive vocals and lyrics. Drawing upon the tradition of soulful house and R&B and blending it with lush production flourishes yields one serious late-night gift. The dancefloor is the ecstatic recipient. The trio also provides an Instrumental as well as a Dub version using the sparsest of vocals from the original. There's also the Choppin Broccoli Remix, which increases the tempo and heat just a tad, throwing in fresh new layers of instrumentation that bring Becka's vocal into another brilliant light. India's deep house don Hamza Rahimtula has joined forces with HMNI Music impresario Cantos for an electric Viva Recordings single, "Return to the Feelings.." The release leads with the instrumental Dub, owing to the pair's allegiance to the DJ's sonic domain. A jazzy drum shuffle immediately signals that this cut is something a little different for the dancefloor, before a rolling sub-bass riff and sparkling chords come on the scene. Late in 2023, Viva took part in a special remix / producers contest with SEMPA (Seattle Electronic Music Producer Association), with a remix release being the first prize. After much deliberation, a final decision came down this - the Marcell Marias remix. Using the classic original elements while adding his own touch, Marcell takes us on a journey, with mesmerizing strings, hypnotic percussion and and a subtle yet effective acid line weaving throughout. Minneapolis based producer and DJ Dan Laino is back on Viva Recordings for the summery "Follow Me", a fantastic follow up to his recent collaboration "I Want You" with Jason Merle and Becka on the label in recent months. A prolific producer, and no stranger to the game, he's signed tracks to labels like Phoenix Music, 4E&A, Grin Music and more.

"Follow Me" starts with deep chords, a subtle pulsating bassline and whispery vocal samples, steadily building as the track meanders along. It's almost made for the end of Summer. A perfect poolside or patio track for the summer, and a sure fire after hours track for early mornings as autumn sets in. Flip it over for "Got da Flav," which continues the airy vibes of this single. Swirling pads, subtle stabs, and a spacious groove that makes it easy to close your eyes and get lost on the dancefloor.
