🌸 "Better Yesterday" was written during a hurricane of emotions. Not knowing how to express it, I channeled it into this song.

The first lines start with “these are the words I’m singing cause I can’t bear to tell you up front.” 🎹 I've always had pride in myself on being emotionally aware, but it wasn’t enough. After every fight, falling out, argument, and even little petty disagreements, I always held my tongue for two reasons. 

I was afraid that I wouldn’t be accepted if I fully expressed how I felt. 
Out of pride, I believed I could “get over it” on my own because of my emotional awareness and ability to process it without external conflict. In the past, I often felt anger and resentment from these experiences, and my avoidant tendencies would kick in, helping me quickly adapt and move forward, but it would always come back to haunt me ⌛️

I've now learned what it means to sit with my feelings. Allowing myself to fall into the deepest parts of my pain, helping me truly take accountability and make peace with the past. Fear and ego are significant shackles when it comes to emotional processing, acceptance, and integrating lessons.

You are not your emotions, but they are important whisperers for healing. Pause, listen, welcome them, and hold space for them in order to truly move forward 💗🙏
