Was amazing to see long-time faves My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult live for the 3rd time last Hallowe'en in NYC, one thing those only familiar with their heavier stuff might not know or dig is that they have a lot of funkier / loungey numbers, which never gets played live much. Here's the 2nd half of my set at the Halloween edition of Funkstick. 

In harmony with the season, it's a set that meets the expectation of Funkstick as a cruisy, queer disco party, but also tries to subvert it with the addition of ebm, new beat, industrial selections and just chaotic hi-nrg, electro, and sappy goth synth-pop.

This was also my first big pure vinyl set out and I think I perfectly understand why vinyl is the preferred medium to mix in. I felt empowered, in control, and spiritualized completely.

Baxie talks to the former editor of Alternative Press, Jason Pettigrew. Jason has just published an excellent in-depth look at Ministry’s 1988 classic album "The Land of Rape and Honey". The book, which is a part of the 33 1/3 album series, dives into the amazing story of Ministry’s Al Jorgensen and his defiant reluctance of becoming an aggressively groomed major label synth-popstar.  Instead, he would go on to release not only one of the important albums of the 1980's but one of the influential recordings in Industrial music history.
