Rockem za spravedlnost pro všechny. With or without you?

Vážná operace přiměla frontmana kapely U2 k bilancování, protože nikdo neví dne ani hodiny, obzvlášť v Irsku. Kluk z Dublinu, který ve čtrnácti přišel o mámu a klackovitě dozrál v domácnosti tří nemluvných chlapů, se naštěstí nevzdal snu hrát brutální post-punk jinak než rebelové předtím. Stalo se – a svět poznal Bonův naléhavý tenor jištěný třemi spoluhráči. Po obvyklých amatérských nesnázích dobylo U2 koncertní pódia v anglosaských zemích a vlétlo jako svěží vítr do Evropy, jež se zrovna ocitla na křižovatce. Slavnou cestu glosuje autor vzpomínkami na zákulisní peripetie řadových alb skupiny a na lidi kolem nich, nebojí se sebereflexe života v šoubyznysu ani milostných vyznání manželce a rozjímá o víře, jejíž vliv je v rozděleném Irsku znát i v hudbě. Rozdíly se však stírají, bojujeme-li v zájmu spravedlnosti. Ať jde o účast U2 v projektu Live Aid, anebo o Bonovy dobročinné aktivity ve prospěch rozvojových ekonomik a léčby AIDS, znalost „koridorů moci“ ho propojila s vrcholnou politikou tak, že z toho těží prostí občané. Jeden z nejvlivnějších muzikantů dneška ví, že pop-music svět nepohladí jen krásou kytarových riffů, ale že mu dovede i prakticky pomáhat.

Čtyřicet ikonických písní U2 rámuje neobyčejnou zpověď člověka, jenž umí pohnout lidským srdcem. I mimo nasvícené arény.

„K Adamovi se choval jako brácha a vymyslel nám název: U2. Písmeno a číslo, něco, co by se mohlo skvěle vyjímat ve velkém na plakátech nebo na tričkách. Když jsem si pod tím představil to výzvědné letadlo U-2, tak se mi to líbilo. Když jsem si představil ten pitomý vtip, jako že „ty taky“, tak se mi to fakt nelíbilo. Řekl bych, že tenkrát jsem pro tenhle název nehlasoval, ale rozhodně jsem ho nezatrhnul. Byl jsem jeden ze čtyř, a opravdovou rockovou kapelu přece neřídí zpěvák. Vést ji může, ale řídit nikdy. Ale Létající tygry, což byl Steveův druhý návrh, jsem zatrhnul každopádně.“ – úryvek z textu

„Dneska už to možná zní až moc naivně a zapáleně, ale do jisté míry mi i teď připadá, že svět je ve válce sám se sebou. Rozdíl je v tom, že dneska už jsem spíš schopný vnímat, že mimo jsem já, a nevidět chyby jen u druhých. Postupně jsem pochopil, že když chceme porozumět silám, proti kterým vystupujeme, je dobré se spřátelit s myšlenkou protichůdnou té, kterou hájíme – a teprve pak vyrazit do bitvy. Poznej svého nepřítele. Nejlíp připravený zápasník je ten, který se před nástupem do ringu pokusil svého protivníka pochopit. Zvlášť když ten protivník je on sám." – úryvek z textu

Ik zei dat ik iets speciaals voor je ging doen en de set live bij jou in je huiskamer ga opnemen met tracks die jij hebt uitgezocht.

We hebben tijdens het opnemen van de set gelachen en gehuild.

De set heb ik dezelfde dag nog voor je op een USB stick gezet en jij hebt de titel verzonnen.
