Originally written by her father at her age, INSOMNIAC, the title track of Nikita Faie’s debut EP, creates a touching generational link (imagine an upbeat soundtrack for Back to the Future). Nikita reimagines it through a collaboration with electronic harpist Laura Marquino, adding profound depth to the arrangement, blending evocative vocals with deep, electronic sounds and instrumentals. The result is a track that resonates emotionally and sonically, mirroring the EP’s overall narrative and reflecting Nikita’s own experiences and struggles. 

Accompanied by a striking stop-motion pixilation music video, the track’s gritty, layered sound is complemented by dark, immersive visuals: the bed dimension.

Insomniac - Radio Edit

Inspired by 17th-century composer Barbara Strozzi, Nikita has reimagined and crafted her own poetic translation of "Che si può fare" as a Baroque & Roll arrangement. The song’s cyclical melodies reflect the relentless, round-and-round thoughts that often surface during sleepless nights. 

Though altering classical pieces is often taboo, this track seamlessly merges her classical roots with a bold reinterpretation, showcasing Nikita’s distinctive sound alongside guitarist Patrick Hinds. It pushes the boundaries of classical music and breathes unexpected new life into this timeless work. 

The track’s raw, pared-back recording underscores the unfiltered emotion of the performance, allowing Nikita’s vocals to remain at the forefront without excessive production.

Ever felt the weight of a lingering presence? YOUR GHOST is about sensing a persistent spirit, navigating the depths of grief and loneliness and finally saying goodbye. 

The haunting first single from Nikita’s debut EP INSOMNIAC intertwines operatic moments that evoke a deep sense of longing and heartache, all captured in an intimate, one-take music video. 

Writing this song came at a fragile time after two members of my family passed away. It has taken a while to feel comfortable sharing this. I'm so thankful to Help Musicians and the crew who provided me with support and a safe space to tell this story.

Nikita Faie is a neurodivergent alternative artist from Kent. Think Stevie Nicks meets Ludovico Einaudi.

Fresh from classical training at Trinity Laban Conservatoire, Nikita brings her distinctive style to the independent music scene with her debut EP Insomniac, supported by Help Musicians UK.
