In celebrating Windrush 75, we have reflected on the significant contribution that people of the Caribbean have made to the UK who came on the Windrush to work, study and be apprenticed. Their story warrants telling.

The Windrush generation and their descendants have invariably experienced discrimination in the UK and Prince William acknowledged this in his speech when he unvieled the Windrush statue at Waterloo recently. He said "It is diversity that makes us".

As part of our racial equality awareness, we asked two of our recent work experienced students to record a short podcast to help us understand more about Windrush.

The Faerytale Apothecary's Wild Hearts Sipping Cups of Tea is an experimental affair seeking to follow the Medicine Trails left by Words from Specially Appearing Stories. The recordings will often times be messy unedited affairs that aim to include all the languages from all the peoples (regardless of species or corporeality) into the conversations. There will be no written transcripts, simply an offer to sit a while, listen and see where you might be taken, prompted, curiosly led to. Other humans will be invited to gather our good weather gear for the trip from time to time. Our starting point may sometimes shift in location but home will always be with That Which Dwells Beyond The Gap In The Old Stone Wall - the creative space for my ongoing Doctoral Research. Research which will no doubt pop in on occasion too. Individual Words will be our doors to inner (and perhaps sometimes outer) landscapes. There will be Spontaneous Stories making Guest Appearances. We will explore what it may mean to be Touched by a Story. We will welcome Ordinary Story Speakings. We will Gather Glitterings in our Baskets as we make our way. All served up about once during a month with a drop of tea crafted by a Wild Heart or two. To listen to the gathering, simply press play...

Participants are divided into teams to tackle a simulated client brief and deliver a pitch by week’s end, supported by workshops, masterclasses, panels, studio access, and sneak peeks at live projects for a hands-on, creative hackathon experience.

In today's episode, the first of two-parts, we're joined by Catherine Ako from our February cohort, and Vita Franchina from the May group. When Cat joined the programme, she was nearing the end of her school years and faced significant decisions about higher education and pursuing a career in the creative industries. Vita, on the other hand, had just graduated when she joined us in May and was at a pivotal point in deciding how to focus her talents and career direction.

We catch up with Vita and Cat since they joined this years Launchpad Insights programme in our London studio this year. With Cat about to embark on a Games Art Degree at Hertfordshire University and Vita currently studying and working in Japan, this conversation offers valuable insights into the significance of entry-level programmes like Launchpad and their influence on the future of the industry.

We explore both Vita and Cat's experiences with Launchpad Insights this year, including the software and soft skills they developed, as well as the Framestore creatives they connected with, who remain valuable sources of advice and support. We also get both Cat and Vita's take on the Framestore Dailies questions, including key learnings, lessons learnt and of course, their favourite food!
