Sam George is a Squamish Elder and a survivor of the Canadian Indian Residential School system. A retired longshoreman and semi-retired drug and alcohol counsellor, Sam now works as an educator with the Indian Residential School Survivors Society and speaks with students and community groups about his experiences. Jill Yonit Goldberg is a writer, and a literature and creative writing instructor at Langara College in Vancouver, BC, where she teaches the Writing Lives course in which students collaborate with Indian Residential School survivors who are writing their memoirs. She worked with Sam George to bring his story to the page. Liam Belson, Dylan MacPhee, and Tanis Wilson are students who participated in the Writing Lives class where they worked with Sam George to write his story.

Dans le cadre du projet CREAC "Rythmes et Répliques - Année 1", en partenariat avec la région Île-de-France, nous avons pu proposer ce parcours intitulé Write From Scratch. Ainsi, une classe du lycée professionnel Louis Lumières et une classe du lycée Jehan de Chelles ont pu chacune participer à cette initiative et écrire un rap que nous vous restituons sur ce soundcloud avec l'aide des artistes de From Scratch.

Les instrumentales ont été composées par 2 classes du lycée Bachelard de Chelles lors d'un autre parcours CREAC qui s'est déroulé en novembre 2024. Les artistes ont pu aller piocher dans ces bases musicales pour faire travailles les deux classes dessus.

Ce projet sera restitué en public au mois de mai 2025.

Inaugurée en 2002, les Cuizines est la scène conventionnée musiques actuelles de Ville de Chelles. Dotée d’une capacité d’accueil de 270 places debout, elle s’ancre dans le paysage culturel local grâce à une programmation de concerts aux styles musicaux divers (rock, blues, jazz, chanson, reggae, musiques électroniques, rap etc…). Ont ainsi pu être accueillis des artistes comme Gaël Faye, Naive New Beaters, Flavia Coelho, Vianney, Columbine, Videoclub …

Des concerts jeune public sont aussi régulièrement proposés. En complément des concerts, un programme d’actions culturelles est développé avec les établissements scolaires de la Ville et les associations locales pour proposer des rencontres avec des artistes ou des ateliers de pratique à l’ensemble des jeunes chellois.es.

L’équipe des Cuizines accueille et accompagne également au quotidien les musiciens du territoire dans les 4 studios de répétition, une salle MAO & un studio d’enregistrement mis à leur disposition. Elle propose entre autres des masterclass, des rencontres professionnelles et des ateliers de pratique musicale collective.

Enfin, l’espace club doté d’un bar est ouvert au public du mardi au samedi et propose régulièrement des concerts, des blind test, des jam sessions, et des expositions d’artistes locaux.
