Ten months ago, WWL Radio analyst Mike Detillier came on our show and saind the New Orleans Saints are in “football purgatory,” and that major changes needed to be made before they could get out. Nothing’s changed, and things are even worse today than they were in March 2024.

So host Jim Derry asks Mike on Wednesday’s Dattitude Podcast (Ep. 329) presented by Evangeline Securities how to get out of this hell it seems they are stuck in. Can it be fixed by hiring a new coach? Will Mickey Loomis be the one making that decision?

Jim Derry asks The Athletic's Larry Holder on Friday’s Dattitude Podcast (Ep. 331) presented by Evangeline Securities, as they also will talk about the Saints coaching search. They will dive into the latest odds on who it might be, as a new name has entered the top 3 along with favorites Aaron Glenn and Joe Brady.

Jim also will have a few words about Thursday's CFP semifinals game and give his pick for Friday's Ohio State-Texas game. And Gabe Henderson has a gripe to get off his chest about comparisons of Notre Dame coach Marcus Freeman to LSU coach Brian Kelly.

We are more than a week past the end of a dreadful 2024 Saints season, and all the focus now has shifted to whom will lead the team next season and beyond. Coming into Monday morning, there were two clear favorites in Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn and Bills OC Joe Brady, but that was before it was announced Mike McCarthy and the Cowboys were parting ways.

Does that change the thought process? Would McCarthy even want to work for his former employer? Host Jim Derry asks Jeff on Wednesday’s Dattitude Podcast (Ep. 333) presented by Evangeline Securities about the big season-ending press conference by Mickey Loomis, and whether he has confidence better decisions will be made going forward. That includes the biggest decision of them all: Aaron Glenn or Mike McCarthy as head coach, and do either even want the job?

For the majority of the past couple weeks, Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn has been the favorite to land the Saints head coaching vacancy. However, as of late Thursday, former Dallas Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy has taken that spot.

What do we think of this move, and who do we think will end up with the gig? Jim Derry asks WWL-TV sports director Doug Mouton what he thinks on Friday’s Dattitude Podcast (Ep. 334) presented by Evangeline Securities. What about Joe Brady and Kellen Moore – do either one of those young candidates stand a chance, and would that change how much Mickey Loomis is involved in personnel decisions going forward?

Now that Aaron Glenn is heading to the Big Apple to become coach of the New York Jets, that seems to make for a much easier decision for New Orleans Saints general manager Mickey Loomis: It has to be either Mike McCarthy or Joe Brady, right?
