Electrodoc #2 - La mémoire avec Hans Tutschku

Pop-up elemental (2022) explores the mimesis of fire, wind, earth and sea. Source materials 
are derived from David A. Carter’s “White Noise” Pop-Up book (2009). As each page is 
opened a different microcosm of detailed sound is reviled. Pop-up elemental begins with 
flaky, papery materials which morph into a sound environment resemblant of a raging fire. 
The fire exists on the earth, fuelled by the wind and is extinguished by the sea. Using 
processes such as granulation, filtering and layering the elements are mimicked in their 
varying forms. Elemental form varies in density, movement, temperature and colour, by 
tapping into these varying qualities I can morph between the elements and even create 
mimesis of extreme weather like fire tornadoes or earthquakes, all derived from the delicate 
sounds of a pop-up book.

BIOGRAPHY :
Singer-songwriter born in the suburb of Paris, Gauthier Henderson is a self-taught musician. Very young, he created his own pieces of urban music and performed them on stage. He released his first professional album « Commotion Close » in 2011, the fruit of his major musical influences: Black Music, Pop-Rock and Electronic music.
After a year of concerts on the main Parisian stages, surrounded by his 3 musicians, he decides to continue his journey alone to further explore the performative channel, where his productions are enriched when they are confronted with the performing arts such as dance.
In 2018, he joined the experimental music workshop of the Conservatoire of Vitry directed by Philippe MION, to continue his insatiable exploration of sound phenomena. Gauthier Henderson is a “soundcatcher”: he constantly gleans all types of sounds to recreate pulsating and dreamlike universes, made of rhythmic bases that are as complex as organic.

Auteur-compositeur-interprète né en région parisienne, Gauthier Henderson est un autodidacte. Très jeune, il créé ses propres morceaux de musique urbaine et les interprète sur scène. Il sort son premier album professionnel Commotion Close en 2011, fruit de ses influences musicales majeures : la Black Music, le Pop-Rock et la musique Electronique.
Après une année de concerts sur les principales scènes parisiennes, entouré de ses 3 musiciens, il décide de continuer sa route seul pour explorer davantage le canal performatif, où ses productions s’enrichissent lorsqu'elles sont confrontées aux arts du spectacle vivant telle que la danse.
En 2018, il intègre l’atelier de musique expérimentale du Conservatoire de Vitry dirigé par Philippe MION, pour continuer son exploration insatiable des phénomènes sonores. Gauthier Henderson est un « soundcatcher » : il glane constamment tous types de sons pour recréer des univers pulsés et oniriques, faits de bases rythmiques tout autant complexes qu'organiques.
