It's been a while but here I'm back with my new LabMix session, LabMix031.
Maybe a little less usual than my previous sessions, I start this one with a slightly softer approach and I let myself be inspired by the STOOR concept of Speedy J. 
As usual the first hours of this concept are always very accumulative, mostly starting from dreamy scapes and floating offbeat sounds, the improvisation collective searches and evolves bit by bit towards a fixed 4-to-the-floor rhythm. If I may say, I am really satisfied with my own interpretation of a STOOR (on Sunday) night.
In short, a 2-hour deeeeeeeeeeep techno mix in which I search the way to "Re-Establishing Connections"

Following the release of their acclaimed 2023 ambient masterpiece Overlay, Markus Guentner and Joachim Spieth have unveiled Overlay Reworks, an album that breathes new life into their original compositions collecting the limited 10" lathe cuts and digital releases. This collection gathers an exceptional lineup of artists from the ambient and experimental music scenes, each offering a distinctive interpretation of tracks from the original album. Contributors include Hollie Kenniff, known for her ethereal soundscapes; Rafael Anton Irisarri, celebrated for his textured ambient works; and Pole, whose minimal, dub-infused aesthetics bring a unique perspective. Other contributors such as Abul Mogard, GALÁN/VOGT, and Leandro Fresco infuse the music with their own sonic identities, ranging from hauntingly atmospheric to richly melodic.

Guentner and Spieth themselves contribute two alternate variations, seamlessly bridging the original vision of Overlay with the imaginative directions taken by their collaborators. The result is a transformative experience that reinterprets Overlay while expanding its emotional depth and sonic palette, offering listeners a captivating journey through reimagined ambient landscapes.

Hello,
as a follow-up and especially because of the many positive feedback we will continue in the same vein as the previous session.
So, same vibe, same formula! still completely inspired by STOOR I bring you once again a 2 hour set of floating offbeat to deep techno beats cleaved with crackling and creaking, sparking, electro-organic sounds. this is LabMix032 "A Static Release". 

I humbly serve you a session composed of some of my current favorite artists and songs of this time. This time a bit rougher on the edges and a bit darker feeling but still with that same exciting feeling as the previous SC session.
I present you the second act of STOOR. My own interpretation of hours 3 and 4 of this event

Arcadia brings together zakè, Joachim Spieth, and Markus Guentner in a collaborative work that thoughtfully expands the possibilities of ambient and drone music. Released via Affin, the album merges the trio’s distinct artistic voices into a coherent whole, resulting in a body of work that is both contemplative and richly textured.

Each artist contributes a defining element to the album’s sonic architecture: zakè’s emotive soundscapes, Spieth’s meticulous minimalism, and Guentner’s vast, atmospheric layers. We are thrilled to announce the upcoming release of ABSIS's second EP on the Affin label, titled "Silent Voices." Building on the foundations of his previous work, ABSIS has introduced new facets to his sound, crafting an EP that is both innovative and deeply engaging.

"Silent Voices" showcases a more dancefloor-driven component, seamlessly blending it with a distinctive dubby sound signature. This combination results in tracks that are rhythmically compelling yet atmospherically rich, offering a fresh take on his music.

Unlike much of today's output aimed at being played out, ABSIS's "Silent Voices" approaches the dance floor from a different angle. The music is thoughtfully crafted to create an immersive experience, encouraging listeners to lose themselves in its intricate layers and nuanced production....

The fourth release from Affin Serial features longtime collaborator Cauê, expanding his signature hypnotic techno with deeper, refined synthesis, stronger low-end grooves, and a dark, ethereal vibe. Each track is crafted to immerse listeners in distinct atmospheres, perfect for versatile DJ sets.

"Caos" opens with a minimalist structure, building tension through shifting sonic details. "Materia" introduces broken-beat techno, maintaining high energy and anticipation until its climactic drop. The EP closes with "Verbo", a groovy, minimalist track ideal for layering, offering flexibility for creative DJ use.

Guentner & Spieth is the collaboration project of German artists Markus Guentner and Joachim Spieth, who first appeared musically in the 2000s in connection with Wolfgang Voigt’s Pop Ambient series on the Kompakt label. After getting to know and appreciate each other over the years, they combined their musical ideas for the first time in 2020 and have continued their joint productions ever since. Together, they create mesmerizing soundscapes that combine organic textures and digital precision.

Markus Guentner, a pioneer of the ambient genre, is known for his cinematic sound designs, while Joachim Spieth, founder of the world-renowned label Affin, is appreciated for his work in the field of tension between deep techno and ambient.

Their collaboration combines these strengths in minimalist compositions that enable introspective listening experiences and immersive sound journeys. With the album Overlay, released in 2023, they have created a debut album that was characterised in ‘A Closer Listen’ as ‘dripping with narcotised and eroticised romantic impulses and feels like a living revenant from a voluptuous dream’. A handful of 10’ lathe cuts were subsequently released, containing remixes of their album by Pole, Abul Mogard, Rafael Irisarri and Hollie Kenniff, among others.

Affin Serial was established in 2023 as a sub-division of the parent label Affin, to create a clear separation between the label's various musical projects. 

While Affin focuses more on ambient-oriented projects and album concepts, Affin Serial is dedicated exclusively to dubby, hypnotic techno and distinguishes itself through a recurring visual brand that underscores the serial nature of the projects.
