How much more authentic can an article be when you're reading your own work? For my birthday, I journaled like always but after, I went back and read some of the entries I made months ago, even years ago. It seems like I'm reading someone else's work. But these are my words, my thoughts, my state of mind.  

Have you ever looked back at your own work and were so surprised, you imagine how you came up with that content? It's enlightening on different levels but, you feel as if you're reconnecting with a close friend, a true close companion that you know extremely well. 

If you have not started journaling yet, you'll find a sense of calm, productivity and self reflection. There is no audience. There is no wrong way to do it. Just start writing. It can be gratitude, affirmations, goals, and even putting your mind the state of having already accomplished what you're working for. The mind knows no difference. Have it (your mind) create a path to your success.

Last year, I started reciting affirmations and came across some beautiful YouTube videos where a narrator speaks affirmations you can repeat along with. Affirmations are positive, intentional statements used to challenge negative thoughts, build self-love, and align your mindset with your values and goals.

After feeling how much these videos lifted my mood, I was inspired to put my own spin on it — by turning affirmations into music. I decided to start with my song Day by Day (from my 2024 album Mood Phases) because its chorus already centers around taking life one step at a time.

This new version, Day by Day (Affirmation Edition), features sung affirmations about resilience, self-trust, and navigating life’s challenges. The original chorus remains, anchoring the affirmations in the song’s core message of staying grounded through life’s ups and downs.

This is the first in an ongoing series of musical affirmations — some based on songs from my catalog, others brand new creations. I hope this version brings you calm, courage, and clarity whenever you need it most.
