🎶 Sur ce volume, j’ai sélectionné des tracks, remixes et edits puissants pour illustrer l’énergie et la diversité de la scène afro contemporaine :

Shenseea – Work Me Out (with Wizkid) : collaboration explosive entre la Jamaïcaine et la star nigériane, extrait de l’album Never Gets Late Here (2024), salué par Rolling Stone Africa. Un mélange sensuel de dancehall et d’afrobeats, porté par une vidéo tournée entre gym et désert, symbolisant une synergie transatlantique forte 

AyChibs – Outside Looks Nice : édifiant. Sorti en mai 2020, ce morceau autoproduit rassemble house, afrobeats et R&B dans une ambiance chill et percussive, salué par The Pit London comme « hazy new track tides us over until we can head back to the beach »

This song has been in the works since last year. Called it "september" cause of the gloom that comes with that particular month (made the beat in June, hence the melancholic but dancey groove.)

I initially sent a demo of the beat without thinking too much of it, about a minute 30. When Tugi (such an angel) sent her initial demo some months later, I could have sworn I shed a tear. I jumped in amazement, I said. "Tugi, you've blessed my ears."

She asked for the beat to be elongated, I did that in 1 hour (she sparked my inspiration) and I sent the finished version to her and she sent her demo back. Cried again.

The biggest task of this project was mixing and mastering, as it was my first singer project I have ever taken. I was skeptical at first but her voice made my life SO EASY. I didn't even do much to it when I figured how to make her vocals sound that way.

Versions were bounced back and forth and we have this version.

I can rave about this song for days. I'm honoured she's the first ever female act I've worked with.

She's a star. Tugi is a star. Watch out for her. I promise she'll take over the world with her voice.
