KMHL's Vintage Vinyl Christmas brings you another compellation album, this time from RCA Records.  "A Country Christmas"  features a host of songs from various artists who recorded under the RCA label over the years.  Often times, the labels would take advantage of music lover's passion for Christmas and  put a number of songs on an album to create a 4th quarter sales boon.  RCA released a number of these compellations, especially in the 80's.  Enjoy "Peace on Earth" from Razzy Bailey & Alabama's "Christmas in Dixie".

BYU finished an impressive 11–1 season but was never seriously considered for the College Football Playoff, ultimately landing just outside the final bracket. Despite stronger metrics than Notre Dame and Miami, the Cougars were passed over, leaving fans questioning whether BYU was snubbed.

Ok for the rest of the program. Began as a bass player in the days when bands competed in spandex and hair spray had a weekly budget.  As an award-winning club DJ, I continued to control a live audience's energy. Transitioning to broadcast, peaked as a morning radio host across both Rock, Country and Pop formats.  This cross-platform history, from the studio floor to the airwaves, gives me a perspective on what makes music connect to an audience.

On July 15th 1973, the flag was lowered on the call letters, KTBC, and raised with the new letters, KLBJ. This was perhaps, one of the few times that the presence of the President of the United States, Lyndon Baines Johnson, was felt by the radio station's staff - or its audience.

In 1981 KLBJ implemented the “News-Talk” format, which is still in use today.

Over the years many famous names have worked at KLBJ including Nellie Connally, Harfield Weeden (who later became VP of CBS programming), Pat Adelman, J.C. "Jesse" Kellam, John Connally, Bonner McLane, Jake Pickle, Bill Moyers, and of course Cactus Pryor

KLBJ AM won a Marconi Award for “Station of the Year” (medium market category) from the National Association of Broadcasters in 1994 .

KLBJ AM won a Crystal Award for “Excellence in Community Service” from the National Association of Broadcasts in 1994.
