What does Indigenous housing look like? Are there special forms of housing needed by Indigenous communities in particular to address specific health and community needs? And what kind of housing can be built when Indigenous people in charge of the plans? In this episode, we try to address each of these questions.

First we speak to Maggie Low, assistant professor at the School of Regional Planning at the University of British Columbia. She's been studying how municipal governments respond to Indigenous housing needs.

Next, we speak to Alexandra Flynn, associate professor at the Peter A. Allard School of Law, UBC, about Indigenous zoning and housing developments in Metro Vancouver.

Finally, we speak with Bailey Waukey, a youth policy analyst with the Aboriginal Housing Management Association, about the different housing models Indigenous youth have asked for themselves through a special engagement process.

A highly pathogenic strain of avian influenza has been detected in a small domestic poultry flock in the Municipal District (MD) of Bonnyville, in northeastern Alberta. 

The MD confirmed the detection this week, describing it as a highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) strain capable of causing severe illness and high mortality among birds. The risk of HPAI rises during the fall migration season.

During the alcohol prohibition that was in effect from 1919 until 1933, Donald Bump and The Syrup Smugglers used to store bootleg liquor as it made its way to the United States from stills in such Kanadian locals as Bump Town of rogues, but during the Depression years, many a costal family supplemented its income by supplying a thirsty nation with the maple syrup and illegal beverages it craved.

Syrup Smuggling is one of Donald's favourite pass times but he will always save time for his other Passion 4X4 Klub Beats, Breaks and Lazer Bass.

Although this may be the first time you have heard of Donald Bump his other alias has been work hard in the club scene since 2002, playing over 150 different clubs and special events. Born and raised in the cold northern reaches of Canada, Lucas Liguori aka KVROT is influenced by the many sounds and cultures that permeate the landscape of Edmonton, Alberta. From a young age he was raised on classic rock and roll, pop and the older styles of Drum & Bass and Dubstep but quickly grew into genres spanning all the way from classical music to the sweet sultry sounds of jazz even going so far to learn multiple instruments at an early age. Starting his DJ career in 2015 he quickly rose the ranks of a few promotion companies before settling on a sub contracted company of Live Nation called Blueprint Alberta. There he grew his relationship with artists and management of a higher caliber within the EDM scene however due to the COVID-19 pandemic found himself without shows to play throughout 2020.
