Keith  Thornborough shares his memories of the German POW camps in Algonquin Park. WW2  prisoners performing tasks such as cutting wood cords and stories about the Bears in the park.

South River Seniors Telling Their Stories is a community-made collection of stories, anecdotes, Aural history and reminiscences told by Seniors who live in South River, Ontario.
Keith Thornborough shares his memories of the German POW finding a large moose antlers in Algonquin Park on their Sunday walks in the Park. This moose antler was 5' 5" long the 12th largest found in eastern Canada. The POW's were working at the Standard chemical plant operated by Orville Cooper.

A moving indie collab by the members of Denny's Band: Joe Elbee, Mario Licata, Kev Zed, Tom Hellsten, and Alex O'Brien. The first song towards their 4th album. Ben Owen joined the band for this one enhancing the track with his gorgeous fiddle, mandolin, and accordion.

The lyric was inspired by the death of Alex's father, Michael George O'Brien, back on October 22nd, 2017. Ralph Bice, known as “Mr. Algonquin,” was a legendary Ontario outdoorsman, guide, and conservationist who spent nearly a century championing canoeing and wilderness life in Algonquin Park. Alex has hiked, camped, and backpacked extensively in Algonquin Park.

A Ralph Bice Goodbye

Writing songs and kitchen party playing with my many musical friends ... pretty much sums it up.

New Adventures in Sound Art (NAISA) is a Canadian non-profit organization that produces performances and installations spanning the entire spectrum of electroacoustic and experimental sound art. Included in its productions are: Deep Wireless, Sound Travels, Cross Waves and SOUNDplay. 
NAISA's Soundcloud page features the Deep Wireless online compilations. recordings of past performances, and select editions of its Making Waves radio program for WGXC at the Wavefarm in Acra, NY.

Doug Van Nort is an experimental musician and sound artist with twenty years of practice as an electroacoustic composer/improviser. His work explores the boundaries of noise and tone, thick layering of materials, microsounds, texture, drone, wide spectral and dynamic ranges, and the emergence of new content that results from interactions with idiosyncratic and immersive acoustic spaces, and  compositional and algorithmic processes. Van Nort performs on self-made electronic instruments that assume a turntable-like, sculptural approach to shaping sound using his hands and voice. He often captures sounds live in performance, while his recorded source materials span instruments and natural environments, including any and all sounds discovered through deep listening to the world around him.

To celebrate 2000, I took a year off to write songs, novels, plays, and stories - and I've been doing that since. At the end of my first year, I won first prize in the USA Songwriting Contest in the Lyric Category for 'Drum Machines and Beauty Queens.' This led to co-writing songs with many excellent musicians, including those represented in songs posted here. 

More recently, I was one of seven finalists in the Crisis Lyric Category of the 2021 UK Songwriting Contest for 'Lockdown Blues,' and one of nine nominees in the 2021 International Song Awards with 'Didn't the River Know' and 'Blue and Gold.'

For the past two years, I've been collaborating with many talented musicians on Kompoz. I release many of these songs here and compile the best into albums released under Captain Stormfield's Trip on Spotify and other platforms (see links below).
