In welche Zukunft geht die Weidehaltung? Vor welchen Herausforderungen stehen Hirt:innen bei ihrer Arbeit auf der Alp oder Alm? Unter anderem damit beschäftigten sich die internationalen Salerner Herdenschutztage Ende Oktober 2024 unter Beteiligung des CIPRA-Projekts «Dialog zum Wolf: Hirt:innennetzwerke in den Alpen stärken». Wir haben uns in Salern mit zwei Personen getroffen, die sich mit dem Thema auskennen: Maria Naynar und Kaspar Schuler. Maria Naynar ist Hirtin, Sennin und Älplerin. 2023 war bereits ihr elfter Sommer auf einer Alm, zum ersten Mal in Österreich, davor viele Jahre in der Schweiz. Momentan arbeitet sie als Leiterin der Abteilung für Schafe und Ziegen an der Höheren Bundeslehr- und Forschungsanstalt für Landwirtschaft Raumberg-Gumpenstein in Österreich. Kaspar Schuler ist seit 2018 Geschäftsführer von CIPRA International und war einst auch selbst als Alpsenn und Hirte in den Schweizer Alpen tätig. Er hat das Projekt «Dialog zum Wolf – Hirt:innen-Netzwerke in den Alpen stärken» von Beginn an mitentwickelt und begleitet.
