DETOURNEY is an Undertale AU based on and set in an alternate timeline of Escape from the Dark World in which the tournament never continued past WR2.

Lancer begins to have second thoughts about humoring the Lightners, and calls off the tournament. With no hope of them returning to their home worlds, they spread out across the Dark World and find a place to call their own. Barney has a premonition of what will happen if this imbalance between light and dark persists, and brings it upon himself to get the gang back together.

Kirby is the Alphys replacement. As Barney backtracks through the Dark World to find the missing piece that gives everyone the best possible ending, Kirby realizes he’s coming close to discovering something... ghastly. In a shocking twist, Kirby attempts to stop Barney in his tracks, putting them at an impasse.

I wanted to do something with Amalgam and make it sounds unironically good (as opposed to a very fitting, atmospheric song), I was inspired by the many Amalgam breakcore remixes.

The three references on the amalgamate sprite are: (in the top left) is angry like the Demon Level icon, (on the middle right) the spikey hair shapes are from the person in the Blast Processing logo, and the face at the bottom is the rewarded Blast Processing Cube for beating the level.
