Expert Historic Restoration Architect for Authentic Renovations

Grote steden ontwikkelen zich in hoog tempo en daarmee komen basisvoorzieningen zoals wonen, onderwijs, zorg, publieke ruimte en een leefbaar klimaat onder druk te staan. Niet iedereen kan meeprofiteren van de veranderende stad. En dat leidt tot de vraag hoe een solidaire stad eruit zou kunnen zien en wat je eigenlijk nodig hebt voor een stad die niet alleen iedereen de ruimte biedt maar waaraan ook iedereen kan bijdragen. Samen stad maken opent een enorm potentieel aan vaardigheden, ideeën, denkkracht en creativiteit. Daaraan bijdragen betekent betrokken en verbonden zijn met de leefomgeving. Maar wat betekent dit eigenlijk voor het werk van ontwerpers en architecten? In aflevering 17 van Architecture City onderzoeken we het idee van de Solidaire Stad.


Onze eerste gasten zijn Christine van Meegen en Sebastian Kubersky van Studio C.A.R.E. Dit ontwerpbureau opereert op het snijvlak van kunst, interieur en architectuur met een radicale en speelse benadering van ruimte. Projecten als Curated Catastrophes, Infinite Dinners en het modulaire Rotterdam System, dagen conventies uit en verleggen grenzen om zo de relatie met de eigen leefomgeving te intensiveren. Studio C.A.R.E. ontwerpt altijd in nauwe dialoog met opdrachtgevers en gebruikers. Nu maakt zij deel uit van Het Huis van de Toekomst en de bijbehorende Energiemeent in de Rotterdamse wijk Bospolder Tussendijken. Daar oefenen ze in het omgaan met  energieschaarste. Hoe zorg je bijvoorbeeld dat je het warm krijgt zonder je arm te stoken? Samen met buurtbewoners uit alle windstreken ontwikkelt Studio C.A.R.E. slimme en mooie oplossingen. 


De tweede gast is Mira Nekova, partner bij het architectenbureau Time to Access. Zij realiseerden onlangs De Nieuwe Meent, een wooncoöperatie in Amsterdam Oost die betaalbare en duurzame woningen aanbiedt, waarbij bewoners collectief eigenaar zijn en het gebouw beheren. Leden betalen huur, die gebruikt wordt voor het beheer en onderhoud van het gebouw, en niemand kan een woning individueel verkopen. Het project werd geheel ontwikkeld in co-creatie met de bewoners, wat de bewoners veel zeggenschap geeft over hun eigen leefomgeving en leidt tot vernieuwende ontwerpen voor gemeenschappelijke ruimtes en woningen. Maar wat is de rol van de architect hierin? En hoe blijf je je idealen overeind houden onder druk van oplopende bouwkosten en gezamenlijke beslissingsmethoden?

Architecture City [16] - De Solidaire Stad - 14th November 2025

In spaces for creation gaat host Abe Minnema in gesprek met de mensen die ruimte scheppen voor cultuur en degene die deze ruimtes vormgeven. Wie zijn deze vormgevers van de ruimtes voor cultuur? Hoe bieden zij een veilige plek voor hen die experiment vieren en beoefenen? Hoe bouwen zij podia voor zowel nieuw talent als de gevestigde orde, en hoe bouwen zij aan hun gemeenschap?

In deze aflevering staat Export centraal, de nieuwe nachtclub op het Keilewerf. Mede-oprichter Gerran Jansma schuift aan, evenals Folkert van Hagen die als mede-eigenaar van het Keilepand hun een onderdak bood. Daarnaast vertelt Eva Ventura (architect en oprichter van studio ventura) over het ontwerp van de nieuwe club en gaan we met Alida Dors (artistiek leider van Theater Rotterdam) in gesprek over het bouwen van een community.
