We may begin with an image which has always been the favorite Hua-yen method of exemplifying the manner in which things exist.   Far away in the heavenly abode of the great god Indra, there is a wonderful net which has been hung by some cunning artificer in such a manner that it stretches out infinitely in all directions.   In accordance with the extravagant tastes of deities, the artificer has hung a single glittering jewel in each "eye" of the net, and since the net itself is infinite in dimension, the jewels are infinite in number.  There hang the jewels, glittering like stars of the first magnitude, a wonderful sight to behold.   If we now arbitrarily select one of these jewels for inspection and look closely at it, we will discover that in its polished surface there are reflected all the other jewels in the net, infinite in number.   Not only that, but each of the jewels reflected in this one jewel is also reflecting all the other jewels, so that there is an infinite reflecting process occurring.  The Hua-yen school has been fond of this image, mentioned many times in its literature, because it symbolizes a cosmos in which there is an infinitely repeated interrelationship among all the members of the cosmos. This relationship is said to be one of simultaneous mutual identity and mutual inter-causality.
This review of the book "Hua-yen Buddism" by Francis H. Cook, PA State University Press, 1977 in the magazine The CoEvolution Quarterly, No. 22 Summer 1979 inspired this tune.

Net of Jewels


THE NEXT Whole Earth Catalog (from 45 years ago!) offers fascinating ideas and thoughts. 
Words and sounds for my track are inspired by this excerpt: 

The Dance of Shiva symbolizes not only the cosmic cycles of creation and destruction, but also the daily rhythm of birth and death which is seen in Indian mysticism as the basis of all existence.  At the same time, Shiva reminds us  that the manifold forms in the world are maya — not fundamental, but illusory and ever-changing — as he keeps creating and dissolving them in the ceaseless flow of his dance.  As Heinrich Zirnmer has put it:
"His gestures wild and full of grace, precipitate the cosmic illusion; his flying arms and legs and the swaying of his torso produce — indeed, they are — the continuous creation-destruction of the universe, death exactly balancing birth,  annihilation the end of every coming-forth ..."

dance of Shiva

This is this year's final "moon" song. The December moon usually is called "cold moon" -- presumably easy to understand. The lyrics are inspired by the star constellations accompanying December's full moon in 2025: 
As the Cold Moon climbs higher and higher, it will make for a beautiful night-sky sight, forming a triangle with the Pleiades star cluster and bright star Aldebaran in Taurus. You'll also be able to see Jupiter close to the Cold Moon, as well as the winter constellation of Orion, the Hunter.
A little trivia fact in addition: In ancient Germany the name was "Julmond", a clear reference to "Yule", the celebration of winter solstice. That event has its own song: https://soundcloud.com/api_zz/yule 

Cold Moon

Being musician and artist "since ages", the last two decades and all the developments in digital music broadened my interests and activities in doing music actively and passively. Not being shy of any genre (OK, leave off some Punk and Extreme Metal derivates) I engage in composing, arranging, mixing and collaborating. 

Oh, and I do all my artwork and designs as well. And as you may notice I regard AI as a friendly helper.
