Proust’s Cassette is an immersive audio-visual experience. This hybrid installation features both a virtual audio-visual environment and a set of nostalgic physical devices. Participants enter a virtual space where half-forgotten memories come to life amidst a misty backdrop. They do this by playing different cassette players and re-experiencing the stories and soundscapes from their childhood.

This album serves as the soundtrack for the audio-visual experience, seamlessly blending the nostalgic charm of old technology with the new. The boundaries between reality and imagination are blurred as the physical cassettes trigger experiences in virtual reality.

It offers an opportunity to explore, reflect upon, and celebrate the intricate tapestry of our childhood memories. Participants are invited to embark on a deep, personal, and interactive journey through the hazy corridors of time.

Binary Aftershock, as a musician, could be imagined as a dynamic and innovative electronic music producer known for blending pulsating digital sounds with traditional instrumental melodies. The persona embodies the concept of fusing old and new, symbolizing the aftermath of two colliding musical genres—classical and techno. Picture them as someone with a futuristic, cyberpunk aesthetic, wearing sleek, reflective clothing and often seen with a pair of glowing headphones. Their performances are visually arresting, featuring an array of LED lights and holograms that complement their complex, rhythmically driven tracks. Binary Aftershock’s music is characterized by deep bass lines, intricate synth patterns, and occasional haunting piano solos, creating a sound that resonates with both nostalgia and forward-thinking innovation.

Palimpsest, was a technologically ambitious and methodologically innovative audio-visual installation,in Dance Limerick from Aug 31st to Sept 14th 2014.
Created by John Galvin (Visual Artist), John Greenwood (Sonic Artist) and Mark Carberry (Choreographer), Palimpsest, comprised both a large-scale multimedia installation and four unique choreographed performances.

The architectural space of Dance Limerick (St. John’s Church) was re-imagined as a recording device – one that stored traces of the memories and experiences of the inhabitants of Limerick City over the centuries. The title of the installation, Palimpsest, conceptualises the walls of the architectural space as being composed of densely layered traces of the ‘lived moments’ of those who have used the space throughout its existence.

These fragments of memory are then ‘released’ from the walls through an immersive and multi-layered audio-visual experience. The interior of the church has been transformed through large scale visual projections and a constantly evolving soundscape. Both the visual and sonic elements have been specifically designed for the space. The intention was to create a space that is both meditative and immersive – a slowly evolving installation that encouraged the audience to spend time with the work: echoing the building’s original purpose.

The performances introduced a human presence to the work, allowing the multiple layers of the installation to interact with each other: the imagery, soundscape and the performer. These performances were the result of a collaborative dialogue between the artists and the London dance artist Alexandra Baybutt.

"asallas" aka "LVM" (link below) will move on, but differently.
Italian performer and artist with a background in ballet, blends movement and sound in ways that defy traditional genre boundaries. He uses electronic tools, physical music and field recordings to craft compositions that merge techno, acoustic, and noise elements, inviting a dynamic interaction between the body, the soundscape and the audience. His work extends beyond music, fusing diverse elements of performance into a cohesive experience that challenges the conventions of each medium.

Together with Alexandra Karpilovski are a performance duo who combine text, movement, and sound in mixed-media experiences that explore emotions, moods, and human connection.
