After years of tweaking, I'm as as close as I've ever been to nailing Van Halen's later tones. I've attached three clips into one. The first bit is rhythm his tone from the 5150 album. The second bit is his tone from the Balance album. And the third clip is his tone from the Van Halen III album.

From my beginnings of wanting to be a lead guitarist in a rock band, to being unable to resist the allure of synthesizers and more modern sounding Pop/EDM, whist striving to be as great of a singer, at the same time developing a proclivity for mixing and mastering to the highest possible quality, to falling back into jamming those classic vamps and pockets of funk, soul and jazz, before recently discovering irresistibly tasty glitch music as well as progressive rock, I've seemed to have gotten lost in the fumes of my musical ambitions short circuiting.
