Baalti is a San Francisco based Indian duo who have a knack for finessing retro South Asian samples to create dancefloor vibers. Their warm, nostalgia-laden samples sit within intricate layers of percussion that give their tunes a swampy, crunchy, lofi feel. Their eponymous debut EP releases on Krunk Kulture, and showcases their ability to craft playful grooves with lots of energy and flavour.

Baalti began as a medium for Mihir Chauhan and Jaiveer Singh to explore old Indian records and global sounds that they felt were missing from dance music. Several late-night crate-digging and production sessions followed as they discovered and crafted their own unique style, honing in on a sound that felt organic, exciting, and unabashed in its rawness. Much of their unique sound can be attributed to the fact that they made the whole record in the cultural isolation of their own bubble, with minimal equipment and little outside influence - they were already done with the record before they even showed it to anyone or considered releasing it.

The resulting EP is an exciting and exploratory collection of loose-limbed groove-oriented cuts that move deftly between styles - Gujarati folk, Hindustani classical and Bengali disco samples can all be found here. It’s a solid club record that stays honest and true to its cultural roots, without taking itself too seriously.

"This one’s all about global club. It’s connecting a bunch of sounds that feel really inspiring to us currently, focusing heavily on South Asian and Middle Eastern club music, and finding through-lines between them. It’s super rhythmically charged, percussion-heavy, a little hectic, and a bit of a journey that hopefully takes you some place new while connecting the dots between old sounds and new ones. There’s a bunch of our unreleased songs in there, lots of songs from our new EP, some cheeky last-minute edits, and lots of heaters from producers we dig. Actually really proud of this mix"

The Haus Catz crew was founded in 2018 in Denver, Colorado and their sound revolves around a wide-ranging palette of house, club, and techno - featuring breaks, lo-fi, and leftfield cuts. The Haus Catz roster includes Tailspin, DJ PurRpLeXeD, and Pounces. 

As Haus Catz, they’ve hosted multiple residencies and takeovers in Denver, including their own parties with Madam X, Hammer, 1tbsp, Baltra, dj poolboi, Kareem Ali, DJ Planet Express, Luke Hess, and GILA. They’ve also shared the stage as direct support with an array of leftfield house favorites, including Leon Vynehall, Ross From Friends, Barry Can't Swim, Will Saul, and Kill_Frenzy.

Their debut “Club Nip, Vol. 1” EP was released on their Catz Trax label in 2022 with radio support from Baltra and Ouri, as well as Spotify Track IDs charting by Dameeeela. Their sophomore "Club Nip, Vol. 2" EP was recently released on their label with advance support from Martyn Bootyspoon, DJ Plead, Dark Sky / Benyayer, and Heartwerk. 

Recently, Haus Catz have been working on more original productions that encapsulate the sound and spirit of their live performances - moody, groovy, and pspspsychedelic.
