A Christmas classic reimagined. This instrumental track turns a film score into a grand orchestral journey, fully crafted in a DAW. 
From taiko-powered rhythms to celesta sparkles, it blends gothic moods and twisted waltzes with cinematic dynamics. 
Just full-spectrum storytelling through sound.

The Nightmare Before Christmas

The Septet from 1992 was Martijn Voorvelt's first publicly performed piece. The instrumentation is flute, bassoon, piano, percussion, two violins and double bass. The recording is by Ensemble Numanwari. The idea was to write a fun and colourful piece which is very actually stricly (mathematically) organised, but in such a way that you don't really notice it. A Fibonacci series governs the harmonic structure as well as the horizontal form (on seven levels, no less).

Septet


The ocean's waves are always in motion, flowing between the land and the sea. Like the changing of the tides, "Tidal" shifts between the currents of two distinct musical modes. Each instrument smoothly weaves between crests of harmonious sound, creating a grandiose piece full of movement and life.

"Tidal" is a wind quintet written for flute, clarinet, oboe, bassoon, and French horn. This piece has been mixed by Rayzerfang Music using Logic Pro, using sounds from Note Performer, and was written using Sibelius Ultimate.

This piece was a short composition exercise on modal transition that I liked so much, I decided to mix it!

A four-part canon for chorus  accompanied by a bassoon and a battery of percussion instruments.  Quite dissonant and doesn't employ traditional usage of harmony and tonality.

"AZANDOR" is supposed to be a music project that allows me to be creative in an open way. Whatever idea comes to my mind will find itself as a new song here on the page. The style may vary from folk to electronic ambient music to rock/ pop. Or a combination of all. Sometimes I simply like the sound of different instruments together and the new sound they create together triggers a new idea in my head that leads me to a new song ...or may be left aside for a while or may be completely dumped. In the end it´s the creative process that matters most and the joy I feel when something is finally finished and I am satisfied with the result.
