Monster, moving through the night,
Trying to make it through the fight.
Back again, I rise above,
Searching for a little love.

Sometimes I climb above my fears,
Sometimes I struggle through the tears.
Dark clouds gather, hard to maintain,
But I keep reaching for the sunshine again.

**Sunshine, sunshine,
Sometimes I rise above my enemy.
Through the darkness and the rain,
I keep searching for the light again.**

Sometimes I lose control,
Sometimes I have to save my soul.
I take a breath, I find my way,
And keep believing in another day.

It never could be better,
But I still keep moving on.
Even when the night feels endless,
I keep waiting for the dawn.

Yeah, it's hard to be found,
When you're lost beneath the sound.
Even though your destiny
May seem far away from me.

Still I smile through the pressure,
Even when the world turns cold.
I won't become another victim,
I won't let my story be controlled.

Tear down the walls around me,
Leave the shadows on the ground.
I see people all around me,
Yet sometimes solitude is all I've found.

From Puerto Rico to the city,
From the ocean to the spring,
Everywhere I go I'm searching
For the meaning everything can bring.

I'm the owner of my journey,
I won't trade away my breath.
My strength grows through the sadness,
Even when I'm facing emptiness.

But when I needed you,
Where were you then?
When the weight of all the world
Was pressing down again?

**It's hard, but I will succeed.
I keep moving toward my destination.
One track, one road, one direction,
No more wasting my time.**

It's not springtime,
But morning will arrive.
Everybody has a story,
Everybody wants to feel alive.

Keep it on the radio,
Let everybody hear the sound.
No matter where you're coming from,
We can rise above the ground.

American, international,
Every nation, every voice.
Different roads and different lives,
Still we all can make a choice.

**Heat, heat,
Feel the heat.
Heat, heat,
Moving with the beat.**

Heat, heat, heat, heat,
Let the rhythm carry on.
Heat, heat, heat, heat,
Dancing until the night is gone.

I'm beautiful,
I'm alive,
I keep moving,
I survive.

One step forward,
One step more,
Leave the darkness at the door.

Baby, keep moving,
Don't look back.
Find your rhythm,
Stay on track.

American,
Underneath the same sky.
Different people,
Different dreams,
But we're all trying to survive.

Black clouds may surround me,
But they never own my soul.
Through every season, every battle,
I continue toward my goal.

You may think that I am lost,
But I'm stronger than before.
I won't let another voice
Tell me who I am anymore.

When I roll in, feel the energy,
Feel the rhythm, feel the sound.
Turn the darkness into motion,
Turn the whole world upside down.

**Sunshine, sunshine,
Sometimes I rise above.
Through the darkness and the rain,
I keep searching for the light.
Sunshine, sunshine,
I will find my way.
Even when the night is long,
I keep moving toward the day.**

__SUNSHINE__ Freek Banning

Wij ademen, wij dromen,

ACTE 1: HALLA KOMT BINNEN
1.0. Jazz-ensemble, ritmisch onrustig
Halla (sopraan, parlando):
Mannen gooiden hun geld naar Halla
Alsof het regen van kromme lepels was—
Ik ving slechts een knikker,
nee bedankt, zei ik,
stopte hem in mijn oor tegen de storm.

Koor (fragiel, schaduwen):
Knikker, knikker, in haar oor,
Vergeten voeten op de vloer...

Halla (zacht):
Loop, maar vergeet je voeten niet,
een vis in soutane zwemt voorbij
inkt en schubben over de stenen.

1.1. Vader Johannes verschijnt
Vader Johannes (bariton, slepend over basloop):
Hier is mijn bos van sleutels,
hier is het afscheid dat rammelt—
Ik geef je weg als een klein gebed,
aan een reuzin, zwart als een inktvlek
met een wolk van melk,
zij draagt de regen van vergiffenis.

Reuzin (mezzo, zegenend):
Kniel, ontvang het roest van mijn hand,
Mijn woorden smaken metaal...

Halla (denken, sopraan, scherp):

1.2. Poorten en stemmen
Jazz-ensemble zwelt aan — poorten ‘slikken’ Johannes.

Koor (vrouwentrio, glijdende tonen):
De poort slikt, de sleutel lacht,
Bijenstem ontsnapt in drieën,
Honingsmaken op de tong,
De vrouw spreekt,
Zij spreekt: wij zijn meer dan een,
wij kruipen als stormen door zalen.

INTERMEZZO: HET KLOOSTER
2.0. Orkest ademt als accordeon
Koor:
Het klooster ademt —
zaal, kapel, hokjes rond een hof,
de lucht hangt scheef in iedere steen.
Broodkorst kraakt onder haar hand—
eten. gebed. stilte. geen schip.

ACTE 2: HALLA’S DROOM EN DE ZIEKEN
2.1. Nacht en ontsnapping
Halla (fluisterend sopraan):
's Nachts sluip ik op muizenpoten,
zoek ratten die vrijheid tekenen,
maar de vloer weerspiegelt –
geen vlek, geen uitgang,
de muren zitten glad om mij heen,
poorten wijzen met tanden: jij komt er niet uit.

Koor (vrouwen, ‘mond die fluistert’):
Nooit, nooit, nooit is hier buiten...

2.2. Droomscène
Orkest glijdt in surrealistische jazzwals

Halla (half slapend):
De ochtend kraaide,
mijn slaap beet in de nek—
Ik droom het schip weg,
drie mannen schreeuwen op het dek,
hun stemmen klinken als lepels:
gebroken, onvoorzichtig.

Halla (aria):

Koor (zwevend):
Holmgard neuriede vals in haar hoofd,

2.4. Het dagelijks leven in het hof
Koor (vrouwelijk, unisono, werkend ritme):
De hof draait als een tol,
we naaien zwijgend gewaden

Allvader? Nee—gewoon een aardappel, verkleed.

2.5. Kapel en keuzes
Klokken, koor als kraaien:
Slaat de klok —
nonnen schieten als zwermen naar de kapel.
(Halla blijft, verstijfd van binnen.)

Halla (stil recitatief):
Ik kijk naar een halfgeschilderd vel,
het papier fluistert: ik ben een deur.
(Zij lacht.)

2.6. De zieken
Ensemble (ieder een solo, als tableau):

Wagenmenner (tenor):
Botten geknakt, ogen van glas,
ik wilde racen,
ben slechts hout zonder punt.

Halla (zacht):
Ik praat, hij slaapt.

Grote vrouw (breekt in glimlach, koor valt uiteen en hergroepeert):
Dertien scherven in mijn gezicht,
leggen zich weer in elkaar.

Tapijtwever (alt, zuchtend):
In mijn buik tikt een verkeerde klok,
wolken blazen — worden vlinders

Syntaxfout in het hart #freekbanning

My name is Freek Banning. I am an independent Dutch creator working across music production, spoken word, experimental audio, technical systems, and digital culture. My work combines artistic expression with a lifelong fascination for technology, structure, improvisation, and the strange psychological atmosphere of the modern world.

Online, most of my creative output exists under the project name:

Virtual Jam Sessions Freestyle World

This project functions less like a traditional music brand and more like an evolving digital archive. It includes:

experimental music
spoken word
jazz-hop
boom bap
liquid drum & bass
dub influences
AI-assisted compositions
political commentary
absurdist writing
freestyle improvisation
livestream-style audio sessions

The result is intentionally hybrid. I never wanted to separate technical thinking from artistic thinking because, in reality, they are deeply connected. Rhythm is mathematics. Audio engineering is physics. Poetry is compressed psychology. Improvisation is system behavior under pressure. Humans like pretending disciplines are isolated islands because it makes bureaucracy easier. Reality rarely cooperates.

Background

My professional life has moved through multiple worlds:

maritime education
engineering
maintenance
procurement
technical systems
international sourcing
Linux and open-source environments
media production
music

That unusual combination shaped the way I approach creativity.

Before digital platforms became algorithm factories optimized for attention decay, I was already working with computers, audio systems, and electronic environments. I have used Linux systems since the 1990s and spent decades around technical infrastructure, hardware, software, logistics, and problem-solving.

That technical background influences my artistic work heavily:

I build systems
I deconstruct systems
then I turn those systems into sound

Sometimes literally.

Music as a Living Process

I do not see music as a perfectly polished commercial object.

I see it as:

documentation
experimentation
emotional architecture
social criticism
signal processing for human experience

Many of my tracks are intentionally raw or improvisational. Some are carefully layered and cinematic, while others are chaotic collisions of spoken word, jazz textures, distorted radio aesthetics, glitch rhythms, and social commentary.

That contrast is deliberate.

Modern digital culture pressures creators to become brands first and human beings second. I reject that structure. I prefer authenticity over optimization, even when that makes growth slower or categorization more difficult.

Some listeners describe my work as:

experimental
political
satirical
hypnotic
melancholic
surreal
confrontational
strangely calming

In practice, it often sounds like:

a late-night pirate radio transmission from a collapsing future nobody officially admitted was already happening.

Which, honestly, feels reasonably accurate.

Themes in My Work

Several themes consistently appear throughout my public releases and uploads.

Technology and Human Identity

I explore the relationship between:

artificial intelligence
automation
digital alienation
surveillance culture
online fragmentation
synthetic identity

AI interests me not as a replacement for creativity, but as an instrument. Just as samplers, synthesizers, and tape machines transformed music in earlier decades, AI opens new possibilities for structure, language, rhythm, and improvisation.

Used correctly, it expands human imagination instead of replacing it.

Used badly, it becomes corporate wallpaper generated for people too exhausted to notice the difference.

Politics and Anti-War Themes

A large part of my work reflects concern about:

war
geopolitical instability
propaganda
media manipulation
institutional hypocrisy
economic inequality

Rather than delivering slogans, I often use irony, absurdity, fragmented imagery, and layered metaphors. Satire can expose uncomfortable truths more effectively than direct preaching because people instinctively resist being lectured, especially online where outrage has become a recreational industry.

Absurdism and Dark Humor

Absurdity appears frequently in my work because modern reality already feels structurally absurd:

algorithmic culture shaping attention
performative outrage cycles
artificial intimacy online
commercialized identity
political theater presented as leadership

Sometimes the only honest response is satire.

That does not mean nihilism. Beneath the irony, there is still genuine concern about human creativity, independence, freedom of thought, and emotional authenticity.

My Creative Process

Most of my projects begin with fragments:

a rhythm
a phrase
a political observation
a jazz sample
a technical glitch
a sentence overheard somewhere
a strange emotional contradiction

From there, tracks evolve organically.

I often combine:

spoken word
layered percussion
atmospheric textures
improvisation
AI-assisted prompting
freestyle writing
sound collage techniques

This creates an open-ended structure where tracks behave almost like evolving conversations rather than fixed compositions.

Some projects remain rough sketches intentionally. Others develop into fully distributed releases across streaming platforms.

What I Believe

I believe independent creation still matters.

In an era where platforms reward predictability, speed, and algorithmic sameness, originality becomes increasingly valuable. Not because originality is fashionable, but because it preserves human depth.

I am not interested in manufacturing a perfectly optimized online persona. I am interested in building meaningful work that:

experiments
questions
evolves
confronts
documents
and occasionally destabilizes comfortable assumptions

Art should not always behave like a product presentation.

Sometimes it should feel like:

static on a late-night radio,
a philosophical argument inside a jazz club,
a machine learning model hallucinating poetry,
or a maintenance engineer explaining society through broken circuitry and basslines.

Those worlds are not separate to me.

They are the same signal viewed from different frequencies.
