This release is dedicated to and written for all the people I have never met but have only read about. The innocent people who were out living their lives and one day, without warning, had them taken away from them. People who liked to laugh, dance, and love in the way that we all do, but cant anymore. All those names and faces, all those beautiful strangers...
 
So here are two songs, "Beautiful Strangers" as well as my cover of Townes Van Zandt's "No Place To Fall" that I have been closing my live show with over the past year. Any purchase of these two songs will go to support the work of Everytown For Gun Safety - an organization I have followed for quite some time. The three-track ‘Nothing To Lose’ EP includes everything from club focused sounds to smooth, soulful melodies. Carefully crafted, the title track ‘Nothing To Lose’ is ready for the dance-floor and described by Midland as “sounds like Floating Points making a record for Afterlife!”. "12 Months" mixes arpeggiated synths with pads and breakbeats to create a perfect peak-time moment. The more chilled sounds of "Loyal" showcases Theo Kottis’s impressive range, offering up another stellar groove. Scotsman Theo Kottis has established himself or rather his sound as a league of its own. Going back and forth between deeper and housey approaches as well as covering discoid tracks in his sets the Edinburgher elegentaly and flawlessly puts music together and overcomes the boundaries of (sub)genres with his sets. Surely Theo Kottis, who grew up between Scotland and Greece, not only has a knack for doing so when it comes to his DJ-skills but also when curating music for his own imprint Beautiful Strangers, on which he released a three tracker, Nothing To Lose, earlier this year. Aside from the Nothing To Lose EP Theo just put out his single Never on Skint and before contributed a track, Power Cut, to Permanent Vacation's sixth installment of their eponymous compilation.Theo's art:cast musically covers the initially mentioned spectrum, starting off with deep and almost broken beats he then goes into a more disco-ish direction, implementing Acid-tunes – always keeping the tension yet giving the listener short breaks to enjoy the beauty of certain pads. Maybe it's the longing for a summer with several festivals and festivities, but Kottis' set musically portrays the feeling of freedom you would enjoy on a rooftop-terrace under a blu sky before hitting the club(s) as his selection of tracks is so genuinely balanced.

Torture the Artist is a webzine, or a magazine made for the internet, geared towards those with a passion for contemporary electronic music, with subgenres including Techno, Tech House, Deep House and Eletronica, as well as a small amount of Indie and Alternative.
