Dance Temple

I made this mix in the days leading up to the full moon lunar eclipse in Scorpio.  May 5th, 2023.  My hope is that this music and these sounds help us connect deeply with the Earth, the elements of nature, and ourselves.  Eclipse season during Mercury retrograde can be an intense time to navigate being human.  Take this time to nurture your heart, feel what arises, and use the music to dance it through to the other side.

In philosophy, systems theory, science, and art, emergence occurs when a complex entity has properties or behaviors that its parts do not have on their own, and emerge only when they interact in a wider whole.  This Ecstatic Dance Journey is in tribute to this concept, with each song weaving into a greater unified whole....informing the dancer's behavior towards greater complexity, evolution, and brilliance through the unification of all the parts of self, from shadow to light, and all shades of the full human spectrum.

Something that really resonates with me about it, is that the magic of it is that it can only be revealed in the darkness. AguaMayyim is the musical fusion of Rose Dayal and Franky Helix, arising from the vibrant shores of Santa Cruz, CA. United by the healing power of sound, they seamlessly blend their talents as DJs, producers, and musicians. 

For the past 3 years, they have produced EDM & ecstatic dance events in Santa Cruz, CA.  They have played throughout the Bay Area and beyond, sharing the stage with Mose, Yemanjo, KR3TURE, Equanimous, Moontricks, Phutureprimitive, Scott Nice and more... Although Franky has been DJing since 1997, this is a newer SoundCloud page for their duo project.

With a diverse sonic palette, they explore melodic deep bass, healing medicine music, tribal rhythms, tropical vibes, organic sounds, international influences, and hip-hop. Join them on a rhythmic journey that weaves an inspiring tapestry for movement.

Sheena Medicina is a life-long dancer, DJ, Ecstatic Dance journey facilitator, & event producer.  She cooks up fresh mixes of uplifting & luscious bass-rich soundscapes with hints of cumbia, twerk, pop, psychedelic downtempo, tribal electronica, medicine music, house, organic & world beats, with plenty of funk & throwback tracks in the mix and always a good healthy dose of feminine medicine.
