Dialectics (n.) – The art of investigating or discussing the truth of opinions. The discourse between two people holding opposing viewpoints view but trying to establish a common truth through reasoned discussion.

Born out of the renowned, best-selling Yin : Yang label concept, musical discourse is brought to life through the meticulous choices of Tripp Baronner – DJ, curator and full-time member of the Proton team. Presenting “Dialectics,” a monthly show airs on Proton Radio and DI.fm showcasing the finest underground music talent in two contrasting but inextricably linked hours.

Part 1 sees Yin thematically represented while Yang is juxtaposed through Part 2. Intimately interconnected while fluid by design, resident hosts alternate and interchange with guest artists to create a dynamic dialectical discourse.

Big world is a folky pop song with some country influences. The lyrics revolve around feeling lost in a big city, realizing how big the world is and how discovering every new place builds you as a person.

I wrote Big World when I first moved to London. Coming from an island, London seemed like a whole new world to me. Everything was huge and fast. I had to get used to the trains and the big crowds. It’s a song about feeling lost in this big big city and the realization of how much there’s still out there to discover.”

Yin and Yang (n.) - the concept of duality forming a whole. A fundamental premise in Chinese philosophy now transposed to the electronic dance industry through the creation of Proton "Editions". Through encyclopaedic knowledge of the 4,000+ strong Proton roster of labels Tripp Baronner has envisioned a new concept of the principle of seemingly polar opposites, coming together as interconnected and independent universal forces - life and death, the dark and the light: one complete entity. 

From a passion for underground progressive house at opposite ends of the audio spectrum - the deep, shadowy atmospheres to the blissful, shimmering melodies, "Yin" and "Yang" were born in an effort to represent this phenomenon in musical form. Each release will provide a single remix of an existing Proton roster track for two inextricably linked labels in the form of a light (Yang) and dark (Yin) edition. Released on the same day, a strong contrast in styles will thus serve to complement each other and nourish the whole.

Rafaèlla is a genre-blending pop artist weaving emotion, power, and cultural soul into every melody. Born in Cyprus and raised on heartbreak anthems and old Greek records, she first found her voice on stage beside her father. From early TV and radio work to musical theatre, singing has always been her native language.

Her 2020 debut Nobody Knows and follow-up Broken introduced a raw, melancholic tone, earning global support and leading to her conceptual breakup album sincerely, me. in 2021. The release marked her TV debut in Cyprus and shows across London, including the iconic Hard Rock Cafe.

Now splitting her time between London and Cyprus, Rafaèlla is returning to her roots - blending traditional Greek instruments with dark pop textures and stories of feminine power. Her music holds multitudes: light and shadow, sweetness and defiance, East and West.  Rafaèlla isn’t just writing songs. She’s building a universe where women are soft, sharp, and sacred.
