PhDJ Assignment Info:

The task to embody what we’ve been experencing during module 4 led me to feel into the beauty and power in the intensity of my shadow side. So the whole thing is intense from start to finish and designed to embrace darkness and power. Some notes for the reviewer:

- I wanted to experiment with how it would feel to go in with an insanely intense 1 which has a solid beat but basically none of the other 1 elements I usually use, then dive straight into 2+ / 3, then back off after that for a breath of air with some 2-ish melodies a few tracks later. Imagining that the people at this festival have already been dancing HARD and loving it and so don’t need to be brought down to a regular 1. I tried to welcome and set the scene and root into the set but… it is a LOT because the set is designed to be intense. It may be too much and actually dysregulating. Interested to hear how it lands, particularly in the context of my breather a few songs later. Took a lil inspiration from Tasha’s get down anniversary mix with this format - the way she started pretty much straight away with a 2+ / 3 vibe then backed off into 2 lightness a little later before heading into 3 again.
- I am REALLY working on learning titration, so I tried to go up into intensity, then back off a bit a few times in this mix. Attempted to do this without losing the build but would be v interested in how it landed. 
- I tried a very light entry to 5 but it felt inconsistent with the rest of the set so the 5 starts kinda darkly, then lightens up as time goes on. I didn’t dwell in 5/6/7 too long either as I ran out of time - I’d add a lengthier  landing if I re-recorded

London based acid rave cowboy BIIANCO brings the highest nrg hard dance to the airwaves.

BIIANCO is a London-based, LA-built multi-instrumentalist (they play piano, bass, drums, AND synths!), vocalist and producer who has exploded onto the dance scene over the last couple of years. They’re also a proud champion for inclusivity in the clubbing sphere as a queer, neurodivergent and Disabled artist who regularly explores body positivity in their releases.

Since signing with Ultra Records last year they’ve dropped a bunch of killer tracks including their latest heater ‘Spin’. If your like me and enjoy all aspects and genres that Lightning in a Bottle has to offer then this mix is for you! It’s a blend of as many artists off the original lineup as I could find. Some of these artists were tough to track down but that’s a good thing. One of the things that drew me to LiB in the first place was the amount of artists I  didn’t know and was stoked to discover throughout the weekend. I started off with the chiller stuff at the beginning and work my way towards the more upbeat grooves towards the end. This is the first half  of a two part mix and the second half is much heavier so for those of you who enjoy the more mellow side of LiB then this mix is for you, on the other hand if you tend to live at Thunder and the Stacks then the second mix will be for you. This will be my 5th LiB and someday i intend to play at this transformational festival it was my favorite from the very first time I went when it was back in Bradley! LiB has a very special place in my heart and I cannot wait to return may these two mixes help scratch that itch in the meantime! 🤣🃏☀️🃏ALL LOVE!!

Zah is a DJ, sound shaman, and multi-instrumentalist whose music is a reflection of a lifelong journey through rhythm, culture, and self-expression. A key member of Talk To Me Nice, Nutritional Facts, JAHWEH, bluesun, Sun Lounge, and the Sprout Gang, Zah blends a rich musical heritage into a unique, evolving sound.

Music has been part of Zah’s life since the womb—literally. Born and raised on Maui to a mother and father from Chicago, where house music was born, Zah was immersed in a world where sound was a way of life. Surrounded by the pulsating rhythms of early house music before even taking a first breath, then growing up with the deep, conscious vibrations of roots reggae, music became an undeniable force. Roots reggae remains Zah’s favorite genre, a guiding rhythm that shaped both personal and artistic identity.

From an early age, music was more than just an interest—it was a calling. Growing up in the ‘90s, Zah was also heavily influenced by the golden era of rap music. With a natural talent for the gift of gab and an innate sense of rhythm, rapping became second nature. The fusion of house, reggae, and rap led to a sound that is both deeply personal and universally resonant—a sound that would eventually find a home in the EDM world.

From writing lyrics at five to beatboxing at seven, picking up piano at nine, drums at ten, and ukulele at eleven, Zah’s musical foundation was built early. By fourteen, GarageBand opened up the world of production, and by fifteen, Logic Pro became the next tool for sonic exploration. Composing a high school band medley that lasted a decade proved that music wasn’t just a passion—it was a purpose.

At Cal Poly Humboldt, Zah studied music composition with a focus on percussion and the marimba, diving deeper into the art of rhythm. College also became a gateway to trip-hop production, rapping, and the underground EDM scene—where DJing naturally became part of the journey. As Zah's artistry evolved, rapping and DJing intertwined, forming a genre-blending sound that refuses to be boxed in.

After years of collaboration, Zah got their first personal DJ deck at 27, unlocking a new depth of connection to mixing. Now, with three CDJs and a Kazoo the craft has evolved into something bigger—an experience, a movement, a feeling.  Zah’s passion for blending beats and lyricism evolved into a distinct sonic experience.

For the past two years, Zah has been DJing in Portland, Oregon and Seattle, Washington playing at venues like 45 East, Wonderlove, Capacity, Golden Rooster and The Haven and festivals like Cascade Equinox and Burning Man. Each performance is a fusion of island roots and percussive energy—a testament to a lifelong love for music while he keeps pushing boundaries and elevating every set.  Zah brings high-energy, genre-blending sets to the stage.

The magic of music is real and music is more than sound—it’s a universal language that connects people, tells stories, and moves the soul. Zah is driven by the magic of sound, the ability to blend influences and create something entirely new. Every performance is an opportunity to transport listeners into a different world, to bring people together through rhythm and energy. Everything happens for a reason, and music is the reason.

Eliza J tours her wildly delicious vibe to dancefloors from Burning Man to Tuscany, San Francisco and the beaches of The Philippines. Her parties are a call to unravel the knots in your spirit, get down with your power and unleash whatever the fuck is in the way of your full throttle aliveness. 

She began her 20-year love affair with music by selecting tunes to light up the room at afterparties, then transitioned to the DJ booth to set fire to docile dancefloors and welcome the wildness, softness, tension, stillness and fierceness that exist in all of us. Bring it ALL! 

Drawing from her knowledge of nervous system regulation, power dynamics, ritual, sex, and the tantric art of DJing, she crafts sets that are infused with lyrical feminine energy, electrifying melodies, and dirty basslines. With roots in house and flavors of techno, drum & bass, and soul, Eliza's music urges you to let the beat enter your bones and luxuriate in the juicy chaos of living. 

Eliza produces events around the SF Bay Area, including leading the SF chapter of Support Women DJs. She draws inspiration and support from the badass communities of DJs at Powerhouse DJ School and The Score Collective.
