This track was a personal favorite of mine; I wanted to convey the Caves' vastness and perils while also invoking a sense of adventure. A sort of ebb-and-flow that unveils uncertainty as it does wonder.

Directly inspired by old KEYGEN tracks of the 1990s, this track was more or less a love letter to the entire chiptune genre. Arcades in Isaac are more or less designated gambling hubs, so I figured I might as well embrace that and make a song that's fittingly chipper to go alongside it.

The hardest thing about this track was trying to decide how I wanted it to sound. What did the "Depths" mean to me? I wanted to instill a sense of foreboding, a sense of danger, and a sense of impending doom. Given how it's the penultimate level before your first encounter with Mom, I suppose that's rather fitting.

Point Of No Return (Depths)

This track was a fascinating case of wanting to differentiate it from other themes, to the point where it had several scrapped drafts; in a game filled with all manner of ghosts, spiders, bats, et cetera, how would I make a level's song themed around them stand out? Rebirth's Necropolis theme had such a palpable sense of foreboding, and I wanted to try and capture that here, but also dial back the intensity for something a bit more mellow, something I could call my own.

Where The Dead Reside (Necropolis)

The Dank Depths has always struck me as a sort of place Isaac feels he should belong; it's sticky, gross, and his self-image seems tainted beyond belief. If he wishes he was never born, then I imagine the Dank Depths would be an ideal place to die. Left to rot in tar, to be forgotten like everything else in time.

Malignant Wastebin (Dank Depths)

In hindsight, I almost feel completely differently than I did with Devil Rooms when I first encountered them 7 years ago. Satan represents how Isaac views himself, to a degree, so there's almost a sense of dehumanization at play; Isaac embracing the parts of himself he considers taboo and using them as weapons, diving deeper into his own fractured psyche. I gave the beat a bit of an echo here, to really weigh in on the idea of giving into your innermost desires.

Me And My Demons (Devil Room)

To me, Mom represents the first major hurdle of the game to overcome. The fight is a chaotic and frenzied dash to the corners of the room as you scramble to try and not slam headfirst into an eye, foot, or hand. Especially in Repentance; I wanted to try and convey a menacing and chaotic, but climactic end to the player's first major final challenge.

Walls Inside Walls (Super Secret Room)

I adore Rebirth's Blue Womb theme to bits, but it kicks untold amounts of ass for what is effectively a glorified build-up to a superboss. Are we not gonna draw attention to the countless *screaming faces* in the walls???

Anyway, I'd wager that this is the most horror-adjacent track in the mod next a few tracks I'll get around to posting later.

471 Faces Of Agony (Blue Womb)

This song was originally envisioned as being a lot more melancholic, something I stood by until late into the mod's development, at which I realized that changing the theme to be more in-line with Satan's boss them would fit the game to a tee. Isaac is in his own personal hell, but that doesn't mean he hasn't become a demon in his own right.
