This is, to me, the bravest LBJ (little brown job) of all. During the breeding season Meadow pipits perform what is know as ‘parachute’ display flights, in order to attract a mate. It literally gives itself away as if singing ‘i’m all yours, take me!’ (or the peregrine falcon will…). You can hear the beautiful descending notes in this recording, made on a windy day.

Meadow Pipit of Aghatirourke

Perseverance and stamina. The two best words to describe this tiny bird - and most smaller birds in fairness - that I encountered on the trails in Tierra del Fuego National Park.

My favourite part of the recording is towards the end, when the wind rushes through the forest. The Elaenia's call changes to a "oh no" sort of tone. Of course this is all anthropogenic nonsense, but nonetheless accurate to the imagination.
