Wat is blended learning? Het is een mengvorm van face-to-face en ict-gebaseerde onderwijsactiviteiten, leermaterialen en tools. Bijvoorbeeld een cursus die deels bestaat uit colleges en deels uit online onderdelen zoals kennisclips of toetsen. Idealiter versterken beide soorten onderwijsactiviteiten elkaar. Hoe ziet dat eruit in de praktijk? Zal het de basis worden van ons onderwijs? En zijn er ook nadelen aan deze onderwijsvorm?

Colorado Empowered Learning and education policy leaders unveiled a statewide roadmap (http://www.keystone.org/COBlendedLearning) to help Colorado educators, district leaders, and policymakers support and expand the use of blended learning. The speakers are Val Flores, Colorado State Board of Education; Troy Lange, director of Colorado Empowered Learning; and Judy Perez, CEO and founder of the iLearn Collaborative.

The roadmap identifies strategies for educators, state lawmakers, and others to act to expand the availability of blended learning and increase enrollment in effective, affordable supplemental education options. The roadmap also lays out a series of priority areas for action at the local and statewide levels, including human capital, policy and funding, and technology and digital resources. 

The Colorado General Assembly and Governor’s Office commissioned this statewide blended learning roadmap through House Bill 16-1222.

In this episode, we talk to Claire Fennell, a Senior Instructional Designer at University College Cork in Ireland, about how to blend classroom teaching with online learning in your virtual learning environment (VLE).
