Swaddled Babies Orchid is from my third duo for harp and percussion, entitled Blóm III. As with the previous two pieces, the music is inspired by flowers . While I was composing Blóm III I was eagerly awaiting the birth of my twin girls. So Swaddled Babies Orchid is, in essence, a lullaby without words for my daughters. 

Premiered by Duo Harpverk in Reykjavik, Iceland on December 1st, 2024

 Wes Stephens' (b. 1983) award-winning compositions have been performed internationally by organizations and ensembles such as the Boston Metro Opera, Bespoke Brass, and Duo Harpverk. He holds degrees from the University of Missouri (Master of Music, 2009) and Missouri Western State University (Bachelor of Science in Music Education, 2007).
