My neck is full of titanium. My pockets are empty. And the only thing keeping me standing is the ghost of my dog.

They call it "phantom limb syndrome"—when you can still feel a part of you that’s been cut away. I’m living with a cervical spinal fusion, waiting on a nerve ablation back in New York. I'm standing in Caesars, surrounded by noise and lights, but feeling completely alone except for the chosen family keeping me upright.
I went to the gift shop and saw these neon, melting statues of every other dog breed—but they didn't have a Schnauzer. They didn't have Oliver. So I used AI to manifest him. I forced the machine to create the ghost that I needed to see.
"Phantom Paws" was written on November 29, 2025. It is a Dark Swamp Blues track about the realization that when the world leaves a space empty, you have to fill it yourself.
This is for anyone holding themselves together with grit, memories, and metal.
