We’re back in the French Riviera for a very special episode, as Girls On Film returns to the 78th edition of the Cannes Film Festival.

This year, host Anna Smith welcomed guests to the second Girls On Film Cannes Do at The Members Club. This glamorous networking event on the beach brought together filmmakers, critics, and creatives celebrating the power of women in cinema. In this episode, you’ll hear reflections from our community on what Girls On Film means to them.

Later on in the episode Anna reunites with film journalist Wendy Ide who reflects on this year’s films, which she says have been of a consistently high standard. Wendy shares her standout picks from the festival, from the fiercely divisive Die, My Love, a visceral exploration of the raw edges of motherhood and mental unravelling, to Sound of Falling, a haunting meditation on how trauma echoes through time and place. She also dives into Sirât, an allegorical road movie, in which gender and disability are refreshingly incidental, not defining. Plus other titles that are already generating serious awards buzz. 

And finally, we’re joined by Liza van der Smissen and Nicole Lieberman, founders of the Female Film Club. This trailblazing global network uplifts women in the industry through practical workshops, seminars and a thriving, supportive community. They share the story behind their mission and how they’re helping to reshape the future of film, one powerful connection at a time.

Das Filmfestival in Südfrankreich ist über die Bühne gegangen und so haben sich Tobit und Lucas die kommenden Filme mal genauer angesehen. Brave New World ist mittlerweile auf der Streaming Plattform Disney Plus gelandet und wurde von den beiden ebenfalls nachgeholt. Zudem schleichen sich die neue Oslo Trilogie von Dag Johan Haugerud sowie der Kultfilm Only Lovers Left Alive von Jim Jarmusch unauffällig in das Hörvergnügen.

En jawel, Cannes Lions 2025 is vertrokken en de Boatcast dus ook. Olaf Meuleman en Thomas Thysens kiezen het ruime sop en ontvangen hun eerste gast, Global Strategy Director Tom Thys. Over hoe Cannes veranderd is de afgelopen jaren, over bommen, advies voor de Belgen en Tom heeft zelfs een primeur bij…

Boatcast met Silver Lion winnaars Jarne en Manuel.

Dag 2 van de Cannes Lions, en het is al meteen prijs. De gasten van deze aflevering zijn dan ook Jarne Eetesonne en Manuel De Vos. Zij wonnen net hun eerste Leeuw, met de Burger to King campagne. En ja hoor, zo’n Cannes Lions is evenveel waard als een Olympische medaille, komen we te weten. Hij komt vertellen hoe dat precies in z’n werk gaat. De Loveboat Campaigns komen van Bert Brulez en niemand minder dan James Blake is te gast in de Boatcast.

BOATCAST DAG 3 - Maarten de Maayer én James Blake

“Kleine ideeën kunnen groot pakken” zegt Klaartje Galle in de Boatcast.

De vierde en reeds laatste aflevering van de Boatcast. Met vandaag Klaartje Galle als gast. De Chief Creative van VML (zeker niet Wunderman) was deel de Audio & Radio Lions. En daar kun je met 1 seconde een Grand Prix winnen. We ontdekken ook de Loveboat Campaigns van Vanessa Hendrickx en krijgen energie van een verrassende radiospot voor Fusion Energy Drinks.
