Welcome to start of a new (old) mix series where I will be uploading past mixtapes of mine in honor of their 10 year anniversary. This series consists of mixes I made from the end of 2015 to the end of 2016. This was the honeymoon stage of my DJ project and I was deeply in love with these tunes and relished in creating and sharing sonic adventures. Keep in mind that I was not as particular as I grew to be so there will be some choices in these sets that I would not allow in my mixes these days. But there is a pureness in their form and that is what makes them so very special to me. Enjoy.

I kinda went all over my collection with this one but I was feeling it so I played for like a lil over an hour... This is the result and I'm super happy with it, and I can't thank you guys enough for the support recently!

I've been really loving the more funky groovy music as of now, especially stuff with instruments, and the mid/downtempo "get high and hike" music and this mix especially the end portion really shows that.

This set was something special for me — my first full downtempo set, played for a room full of incredibly talented flow artists at Flowtoys in Emeryville. The energy in the space was super unique: people moving, spinning, and flowing while the music drifted through deep basslines and atmospheric grooves.

I built this mix around artists that have really inspired me in the experimental bass and downtempo world, blending sounds from CharlesTheFirst, CloZee, Mfinity, Of The Trees, Chmura, Skysia, illoh, and Lowcation into a journey that moves between introspective melodies and weighty low-end.

There’s a lot of emotion in this one — especially toward the end — and it felt right sharing some CharlesTheFirst moments with a room full of people moving together.

If you like deep grooves, moving bass, and spacious downtempo soundscapes, this one’s for you.

Jack Compton, known professionally as Yerba, is a Northern California–based DJ and producer blending Experimental, Downtempo Bass, and Dubstep. He debuted in December 2023 opening for Acid Rain at DNA Lounge and has since become a rising presence in the Bay Area scene.

Yerba’s sound fuses heavy low-end textures, atmospheric melodies, and immersive design into intentional, energy-shifting sets that balance deep introspection with high-impact bass. He has supported artists including Infekt, Doctor P, Flux Pavilion, Rob Gee, and Christopher Lawrence, while actively uplifting local talent and underground culture.

Inspired by Of The Trees, Space Wizard, and CharlesTheFirst, his music centers on frequency and vibration—using sound to connect, release, and elevate.
