Charlie Brown has been waiting by the mailbox for this Valentine for 50 years, but you don't need to. Today, for the first time ever, Vince Guaraldi's 1975 "Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown (Original Soundtrack Recording - 50th Anniversary Extended Edition)" premieres, including the complete 22 cue score plus 8 never-before-heard bonus tracks. 

The holiday special was written and created by Charles Schulz, directed by Phil Roman and produced by Bill Melendez and Lee Mendelson. The score by Vince Guaraldi is finally available on CD, vinyl and digital. The album is mixed and mastered for audiophiles, jazz lovers, and Peanuts® fans everywhere from the original 2" session tapes to a 192kHz/24bit master.

The record Includes Guaraldi hits like the sweet centerpiece melody, "Heartburn Waltz" and its diverse reprises.  Other highlights include "Paw Pet Overture," "Jennie L." and "There's Been A Change." Some songs have equally stunning alternate takes that have never been heard. Guaraldi effectively layered his Fender Rhodes and acoustic piano to create a sublime heartfelt soundtrack throughout and, perhaps, the most unique version of everyone's favorite "Linus and Lucy." 

Beyond the composer's playing, the trio is made up of Seward McCain on electric bass (at Guaraldi's request), and Vince Lateano on drums.

This album is a Valentine's treat -  for any day of the year where your heart reaches out for love. The album was mixed by Terry Carleton, restored and mastered by Vinson Hudson, and produced by Sean Mendelson and Jason Mendelson. The CD includes an 8-page insert, and the vinyl includes a 4-page insert. Both the CD and vinyl include art from the special and liner notes that give a track-by-track analysis by producer Sean Mendelson and notes by producer Jason Mendelson and Derrick Bang (author of "Vince Guaraldi at the Piano"). The vinyl has additional photographs and images from historical documents. This album awaits you or your sweet babboo.

My compositional philosophy comes from a way of looking at music that most closely resembles.....the TV shows Chopped and Project Runway.
Lemme 'splain. 
A Chopped contestant might be asked to make a delicious dish using Duck, Stilton cheese, Dill-pickle flavored Cotton-Candy and Almond Butter. While your typical Runway contestant is struggling to fashion a Ball-gown out of office supplies.....or furnace filters.
In that spirit, I begin a piece by randomly choosing 2 or 3 sounds and a couple of styles (and/or a more neutral style of my own that I call Electro-Classical) from nearly the entire world of music. The more absurd, the better (mostly).
Then the blending and contrasting begins and a way is found to get those crazy parts to add up to a delicious, savory pants-suit of a tune.
Music should be fun!

A composer from the Land of Sky Blue Waters making music with a primary focus on harmony, rhythm and melody. In that order.
Stylistic considerations a distant 4th.
Instrumental.
Electro/acoustic.
A person may sing sometime in the future (once a suitable person is found). Update: Singing got done on Song for Robert Wyatt - but the person was, in the end, unsuitable.
Expect a different style of music with every composition.
Expect my muddy mixes to slowly clear with more experience.
Expect swing!
