As much as I love art and culture, fashion and beauty, I’m also a fan of politics and politicians whose platforms center and elevate the human condition.

Today's  @fullbodyfrequency  guest has gone from Certified Nursing Assistant to the Illinois General Assembly representing the 9th district. And while folks say that all politics are local, Lakesia Collins has made a national impact with her work on behalf of workers, including the Fight for $15, the movement that advocates for the $15 dollar per hour minimum wage.  

Between June and July of this year, she sponsored over 20 bills in the IL General Assembly while remaining on the frontline, fighting for the rights of workers and children.

In addition to her work, Illinois State Senator Lakesia Collins's story of pushing past trauma and moving forward to the plus-size life she now lives is absolutely inspirational!

Can you believe how big God's heart is? In Isaiah 15-16 we read of God's weeping over the troubles of people outside (not merely inside) his covenant community. We read him imploring them to come to him for shelter. We serve a big-hearted God, who loved the world so much he gave his Son for us. If we are his, we have come to him through Jesus  by faith as refugees and found adoption. Let's pray for big hearts like his.

Audio recording of November 5, 2023 while I was asleep.  I started the voice recorder on my phone when I laid down for bed.  I did so because every time I go to sleep, I am visited by personas who also are usually "visiting" me (more like stalking and harassing, despite my protests, and polite and sometimes impolite requests and demands that they stop) and making their opinions and presence unwelcome and in my personal space when I am awake.  At night, though, they attempt to create different mental imageries tailored specifically for my life (my history, the things and persons they believe I care about, etc.), which are all meant to be a traumatizing experience to the most extreme possible for me personally; some of their favorites are my son's sudden, violent death, incestual molestation of my son, and being forced to watch my son suffer and slowly die from injury, illness, violence caused by his father, etc.  So this is a partial recording of this particular evening when I was visited.
