Soul Love | Amanda Lindsey | Spreading Smiles: A Mission to Spread Happiness

“Love Remains” was written to process feelings upon discovery of the Washington 2014 mudslide that buried a town alive one morning. Empathizing with those who suddenly were deceased and those still living that were connected to them, inspired me to reflect upon what really matters in life. The song shares of my discoveries made on the spiritual and self awareness path; including the importance of accumulating a positive practice beneficial to self and others and the profound affect that my thoughts, words and actions/reactions (vibrations) in life have on shaping not only myself but also impacts others. I believe winning at life is about including considering others. Choosing "Love Remains" is a moment by moment practice of both surrendering ego, this includes being self cared for / self partnered (side note: which can take time/work, eps if there's a history of pain) and taking a radical approach to being responsible for my responses. Cultivating gratitude, seeing roadblocks or breakdowns as "growth opportunities" and practicing having a perspective that everything is lent to us by the Universe (the body, air, food, etc) helps me to cultivate greater respect for all of life. I remind myself, "there is always more to the story." We may never know the full story based off what is seen or heard. Cultivating curiosity towards whatever others are going through that may be causing them to act in ways that are unskillful, is empowering and allows less suffering. The impact of my choices has an influence on surroundings. I share this as a reminder to myself and others to be brave and together let's practice choosing love (less suffering, kindness, compassion, empathy, seeing bigger picture) so that whenever it is our time to pass on, “Love Remains.”

Side notes: Chris Brush and I recorded the piano on a big grand piano in a large old church in the Brentwood area of Nashville thanks to my artist friend Jason Erie who worked there at the time. We set up room mics and spent the day capturing the echoes and wanted to capture an epic-sounding cathedral-like sound energy. Along with the skilled award winning musicians on this album/track, I am incredibly honored to have Jon Marro's creativity for cover art.
