Two hundred years of South Carolina history flow through my veins. When people ask about my musical roots, I tell them my family is music—celebration, lament, loss, and joy.

I lost two of the greatest loves of my life in vehicle accidents. "Through the Fog" and many of my songs are attempts to process my traumatic experiences, but they all serve one purpose.

David and Altari both died in automobile accidents. Imagine a love so profound that God decides it's better for you not to remember than to endure the pain of their loss. I reset every day; they remain on the edge of my mind, but I can't quite see them.
