Sunny Disco 05

Melodica’s head Chris Coco launches “My Summer Mixtape 2014”,his second annual selection of Balearic music for the summer season from artists on his Melodica label.
The compilation covers a broad range of genres, from Dub and Electronica, to Leftfield and Bass Music, from Drum N Bass to Nu Disco and puts together some of the label’s best artists and few Chris' good friends into this uplifting Balearic journey.

Chris Coco has been working as a DJ since the acid house explosion of the late 80s.

He has edited DJ magazine, worked for BBC Radio 1 on the afterhours show The Blue Room. He has made artist albums for Warp and Distinctive Records. He has made compilations for Playboy, Ministry of Sound, EMI Classical and Trojan Records. His music has appeared on many compilations including the big ones, Cafe Del Mar and Hotel Costes. His music has been featured Sex and the City, Nip Tuck, House and many other TV shows.

He currently broadcasts and syndicates a weekly electronic music radio show called Melodica and runs his label, Melodica Recordings, out of his studio/office in London.

His music style has developed from those original house beginnings and draws on those years of experience. His club/festival/party sets are mainly proper house featuring the best of the current releases and a selection of classics with a little slo mo disco and a few eclectic surprises thrown in. His sunset/beach sets are more laid back and eclectic, and are also something special.

Passar da pista de dança para a cabine do DJ foi um caminho natural para Fiervo (AKA Fernando Iervolino). Sua paixão por música e pela noite o fez trocar as pistas paulistanas pelos clubs Europeus. Estudou na Academy Of Contemporary Music, em Londres, e trouxe na bagagem – além de muitos discos – sets que investem nas variações da house, nos novos caminhos da disco, em música eletrônica com gostinho underground. Seu som moderno e sofisticado o levou a se apresentar na versão brasileira do Creamfields Festival, após ficar em primeiro lugar no concurso de novos talentos da revista Mixmag. A mesma publicação o incluiu em sua seção “DJs para se ficar de olho”, em uma de suas edições. Outros festivais no currículo de Fiervo são o Popload Gig, onde fez a abertura para o show da banda inglesa Metronomy e a versão brasileira do The Creators Project. Também passou por clubs como D-Edge, Vegas e Bar Secreto, onde atualmente organiza a festa Mezcla, projeto mensal que toca junto do DJ Fabio Spavieri. No final de 2011, Fiervo foi eleito como uma das revelações musicais do ano pela revista eletrônica Burn. Hey, Gareth here, I'm a graphic designer who start designing for clubs, parties, and labels in the late 90s. Back then, mix CDs were the holy grail of both design and music. I loved them.

But I wasn't the only one, mix cds were the soundtracks of our nights, our days, our afterparties and lives, for everyone. Yet in today's internet age, the art form has been lost (or just changed) to 2-3 hour online mixes and streaming videos, which just don't create the same magic your CD collection did. Just 60 minutes of music and incredible artwork.

The Classic Mix CD Series celebrates these discs, their soundtrack, their box art and your memories. We hope you enjoy it.
