ABD Dış İstihbarat birimi CIA’nın Eski Ortadoğu Masası şefi Graham Fuller katıldığı bir Youtube programında Türkiye ile İsrail arasında son dönemde verilen mesajları yorumladı. Youtube kanalı Dialogue Works’e konuşan Fuller, İsrail’le Türkiye arasında karşılıklı ‘savaş’ mesajlarının bir blöf olmasını umduğunu, çünkü aksi bir durumun İsrail açısından felaket olacağını ifade etti.

Ο Βαγγέλης Καραμανωλάκης συζητά με τον ιστορικό Στρατή Μπουρνάζο για τον Πολιτισμικό Ψυχρό Πόλεμο στις δεκαετίες του '50 και του '60 και την ιστορία του Congress for Cultural Freedom (CCF), με αφορμή το πρόσφατο βιβλίου του Η ιστορία μιας ματαίωσης. Το CCF και ο Πολιτισμικός Ψυχρός Πόλεμος στην Ελλάδα (1950-1967) (Αντίποδες, 2024). Το CCF ήταν ένας διεθνής οργανισμός που σχεδιάστηκε και χρηματοδοτήθηκε κρυφά από τη CIA, ωστόσο έχαιρε μεγάλης αυτονομίας, συγκέντρωσε πρώτης τάξης  Δυτικούς διανοούμενους,  προοδευτικούς φιλελεύθερους  και σοσιαλιστές, ενώ εξέδωσε κορυφαία έντυπα ιδεών (Der Monat, Encounter, Preuves κ.ά.). Στόχος του CCF υπήρξε, εστιάζοντας στις ιδέες και τον πολιτισμό, να κλονίσει την ισχυρή κομμουνιστική παρουσία στον χώρο αυτό, να αμφισβητήσει συνολικά τη Σοβιετική Ένωση και να προωθήσει τις δυτικές αξίες.

Εξετάζοντας την παρουσία και  τη δράση του CCF στην Ελλάδα, οι δυο ιστορικοί συζητούν για τους λόγους για τους οποίους δεν ευοδώθηκαν οι προσπάθειες του CCF στη χώρα μας, συνδέοντάς τους με τα χρόνια της Αντίστασης και την «καχεκτική δημοκρατία». Μιλάνε για την εμπλοκή των Ελλήνων διανοουμένων, για το σπουδαίο περιοδικό «Εποχές», που συνεργάστηκε με το CCF και για τη συστηματική σιωπή που κάλυψε το όλο εγχείρημα. Η ιστορία αυτής της ματαίωσης, μιας συνάντησης άγονης, μπορεί σήμερα, για τους ιστορικούς και τους πολίτες, να είναι εξαιρετικά γόνιμη για την κατανόηση του πολιτικού και διανοητικού τοπίου της σύγχρονης Ελλάδας, ανοίγοντας θέματα όπως:  οι αντικρουόμενες εκδοχές του αντικομμουνισμού, οι ποικίλες εκδοχές της προπαγάνδας και της άσκησης ισχύος, οι δυσχέρειες της εκσυγχρονιστικής ιδεολογίας στην Ελλάδα του 1950, τα διλήμματα των φιλελεύθερων διανοούμενων και  η σημασία της αυτονόμησης του Κέντρου την εκρηκτική δεκαετία του 1960.
