Our guest today is Michael Peroutka. Michael is a Maryland lawyer, the founder of the Institute on the Constitution.
Michael once held a position in the United States Department of Health and Human Services and was the Constitution Party candidate for president in 2004.
He is also the co-host of The American View radio program.
1) In just the few months since we last spoke it feels like our nation, our values, our goals and our direction has veered far off course from the roadmap our Founders made for us. Please help me answer the question posed by the theme of today’s show: “Is the Constitution Still Our North Star?” 
2) I have heard it said that ideas like Critical Race Theory are re-framing US and even World History for our children and our children’s children. In an era where, more than any other time in history, the dream of “We Are The World” is a reality. Our circles of friends are diverse, and our families include people of multiple ethnicities...how then are we so eagerly accepting the racist and divisive ideas embedded in something like Critical Race Theory? 
3) Another counterintuitive thing is happening in all of the sweeping Second Amendment Rights Infringements. The past 12 months have brought 8 to 10 MILLION people to become brand new gun owners. And NOW is when the Biden / Harris administration believes is the time to vilify those people and make changes in laws and regulations which could result in millions of felons being created overnight? How does this square?
4) We are facing Inflation issues because of all of the money being printed simply because there is still paper to print it on. The degree of inflation is yet unknown, but it will come. If our sense of history is destroyed, and our ability to protect ourselves and our families, and our money becomes worthless...how can we get back to our North Star?

Hearing or reading about the “contradictions of capitalism” in an article or at a rally might be intimidating, like a foreign language or a term only a certain group can understand. While the contradictions of capitalism are complicated, working and oppressed people can easily understand them for the simple reason that we all live with and negotiate any number of contradictions every day. The contradictions we deal with that are the most confining, that most constrain our capacities and that keep us oppressed are specifically the contradictions of capitalism.

On any given day, we find abundant evidence that makes it clear that the capitalist system doesn’t work in practice. Examining the contradictions of capitalism and demonstrating how they are inherent in the system, proves that capitalism doesn’t even work in theory. Understanding capitalist contradictions heightens our agitation and accelerates political consciousness by cutting through capitalist ideology and the various excuses of capitalists, politicians, and their media. Knowing capitalist contradictions better informs our tactics and strategies in any given struggle and serves as a bridge to socialist reconstruction in the U.S.

In this second episode of our series on the class struggles on the US-Mexico border, we explore the working class movements that helped shape the Mexican Revolution (1910-1920). Over the decade long revolutionary period, Mexican workers and peasants fought to establish rights that had been held back by the dictatorship of Porfirio Diaz. Through the PLM, the IWW, the COM, and various peasant organizations, the working classes organized and fought in unprecedented numbers. The different bourgeois forces vying to replace Diaz and consolidate the state under their power sought the support of workers, as their organized strength repeatedly swung the balance of power from one group to another. We discuss the gains, losses, and occasional inspiring revolutionary victories of the Mexican working classes, and how these carry lessons for our struggles today.

In future episodes, we'll discuss the consolidation of the control of the Mexican labor movement under the state, the surge in migration to the North, the fight against racist nativism, and the struggles of workers on both sides of the border during the Great Depression.
