Composed for the Semplice Quartet, “The Ruins of Ani” appears as an audio reproduction of the architectural mosaic created by the combination of structures from different architectural styles in the ancient city of Ani, which has hosted many civilizations throughout history.

Modelled on the eclectic style formed by the combination of structures from these different origins, the piece presents a monolithic musical narrative where the string quartet turns into a single composite instrument.

   Semplice Quartet için bestelenen “Ani Harabeleri”, tarih boyunca birçok medeniyete ev sahipliği yapmış olan Ani antik şehrindeki farklı mimari üsluplardan yapıların bir arada bulunarak ortaya çıkarttığı mimari mozaiğin işitsel bir yeniden üretimi olarak karşımıza çıkar.
Bu değişik kökenlerden yapıların bir araya gelmesiyle oluşan eklektik stili model alan eser, yaylı dörtlünün tekil bir kompozit enstrümana dönüştüğü ve farklı ses ailelerinden tınıların yalın bir akış içinde işlendiği monolitik bir müzikal anlatı sunar.

The Ruins of Ani

As the ethereal notes of Johann Sebastian Bach's timeless masterpiece ‘Air on the G String’ (1717-1723, from his Orchestral Suite No. 3) dance on the wind, my falsetto weaves a spell of sorrow and longing. With every delicate phrase, I channel the anguish of a heart shattered, yet somehow, in the beauty of Bach’s music, I find a glimmer of hope. May the haunting harmonies and soaring melodies transport you to a realm where music is the only solace. 

As a one-man band, I create an orchestral experience by playing all instruments, and with my angelic falsetto, I cry out in sorrow and longing, speaking directly to your soul.

Air on the G String

"SOS Long Live the Ball Waltz", Inspired by the enchanting piano music of Polish Maria Szymanowska (1789-1831), now in Public Domain, I present this nocturnal waltz, a dreamy serenade that whispers secrets of the night.  As a one-man band countertenor composer, I poured my heart into this piece, crafting lyrics from scratch based on my real-life broken heart and recording them in the studio with tears, I played all the instruments myself, multiplying the sounds to create the orchestral experience I needed.  Through intricate arrangements and dedicate phrasing in my one-man band setup, I create a symphony of moonlit emotions that's both intimate and epic.  Every note is a gentle breeze on a summer's eve, a soothing melody that transports you to another era, a cry from the heart, a falsetto whisper in the darkness. 

This piece features a unique structure, with Part A unfolding in E Minor at a 160 BPM in 3/4-time, while Part B shifts to A Minor, slowing to 80 BPM in 6/8-time - a bold experimentation that makes this masterpiece impossible to be replicated by anyone, standing alone worldwide.

Uğurcan Öztekin (b. 1990) is a İstanbul-based composer of orchestral, chamber, and vocal music.

 First Prize winner of the 2019 Calefax Composers Competition for his piece, "Conference of the Birds: Amsterdam", Öztekin has been selected in numerous competitions such as the Festival Mixtur 2016 Commission Prize, Donaueschinger Musiktage 2017 Next Generation Call for Scores, Atlas Ensemble Composition Competition, Computer Space International Computer Art Forum’s Electronic Music Competition, 11th Pre-Art Composition Competition, and 4th Choral Composition Competition of Turkish Ministry of Culture.

His music has been performed in Austria, Bulgaria, Canada, France, Germany, Montenegro, Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey and United Kingdom at concerts and festivals such as Donaueschinger Musiktage 2017, Festival Mixtur (Barcelona), Atlas Festival (Amsterdam), Barcelona Modern Festival, Festival Turbulences Sonores (Montpellier), Musica Electronica Nova (Wroclaw), International Composers Seminar in St. Petersburg Closing Concert (2017), ME_MMIX18 Festival Pirineus-Mediterrània Modern (Mallorca), Computer Space Computer Arts Forum (Sofia), Baroquestock Festival (London), Festival Unicum (Ljubljana) and Calgary New Music Festival.

Serbian clarinetist, born in 1994. He started playing the clarinet at the age of 18. After graduating from high school, in 2016 he took the differential exam and enrolled in the "Mihajlo Vukdragović" High School of Music in Šabac, in the department of music performance - clarinet. After graduating from high school, in 2022 he enrolled in the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad, in the clarinet department in the class of Prof. Aleksandar Tasić. He is engaged in writing musical arrangements, composing. Passionate lover of baroque and early music. Published by EMR Marc Reift editions Switzerland; so far he has published: 15 Etudes for clarinet (requiring high performance technique), Viva la Cavallini (Hommage to Cavallini), Hommage a Vivaldi, Kafkaesque - fantasy piece for solo clarinet. Other notable works include many transcribed works such as baroque concertos and sonatas for clarinet.
