🔥Big May 2025 DNB Mix🔥 |A.M.C, Gydra, Taxman, Culture Shock, Sub Focus + More!

Here’s the next mix from my recent Jungletrain shows.
For this one, I’ve been focusing on something I’ve overlooked for a long time—getting back into mixing vinyl. It’s been a really rewarding experience to leave the CDJs aside and return to the tactile joy of the decks. The weight of the 1210 platter, the feel of cueing up a record, flicking through stacks of wax, recognising labels without knowing track names—all those little nuances I had completely forgotten about in recent years while focusing mainly on digital mixing.

I guess I’m at a point in my journey where gigs have mostly dried up, and the few that do come along are rare. So I’ve started digging through my old crates—mixes I’ve recorded, tunes I haven’t heard in years. I figured I might as well start sharing some of them. Maybe someone else will enjoy hearing this stuff again too.

This particular mix focuses mainly on the era between 1998 and 2002—It was a curious time for me musically — after 2002 or 2003, I stepped away from Drum & Bass completely for over a decade. I just wasn’t feeling connected to the music anymore. A few tracks might fall outside that range, but that’s the vibe I was aiming for. Going through the records, I found a good few that have really stood the test of time. Of course, I’ve got plenty from that era that haven’t aged well—but I left those out ;-)

This set is a bit longer than my recent ones. It starts off a bit wobbly—chalk that up to getting my hands back into the flow of vinyl—but settles in nicely after a few mixes. The records sound great, and honestly, it’s just been a joy to revisit these old tunes.

As a big music collector along the electronic genres Philo decided 10 years ago to play the music he was organizing and listening to. So his days as a DJ and Producer started in the decade of 2010. Over thousand of partys being a DJ & guest with different music genres, he realized, electronic dance music is a bright world of awesome different genre's and it's subgenres.

Philo’s style of 'electronic' music can be best described as a fusion of minimal, deep house, tech, and breakbeat, with an emphasis on 90's dancefloor culture.

Founder of BrainRave Music and Label Manager at Renegade Hardware, Tollgate Shindigs first found his love for 'dance' music whilst he was still attending school in the early 90's.  His older brother would buy all the old Eclipse, Amnesia House, Perception, Fibreoptics, Quest tape packs which became the soundtrack to his early teens.   The years that followed saw him obsess with the somewhat natural progression of Jungle, Happy Hardcore through to Drum & Bass. 

At 16 years of age Midlands based Tollgate Shindigs was hosting his own multi genre events in various local pubs and clubs which led to a regular event called ‘Nocturnal Combustion’ at the once thriving Crazy Daisies in Coventry.  At these events he would book and DJ alongside artists in the calibre of Andy C, Ed Rush, Bryan Gee, SS, Bad Company, Ratty, GQ, and Flux.

In the early 2000's he learned his craft at Coventry Technical College where he studied Music Technology.  In the years that followed he has had successful releases on both Root97 and BrainRave Music with more releases in the pipeline.

Fast forward 30 years and having recently played for brands such as Amnesia House, Raveology, Standard Procedure Presents & BrainRave Music he has once again become an active member of the Drum & Bass community and has found a renewed passion for both DJ’ing and Music Production.
