Following in the tradition of deferring to some of our favorite techno artists (see Hrdvsion, Matt Walsh) to helm the reigns of our little mix series this week we turn things over to Meant Records boss Remain. Fresh off his "The Beast With Two Backs" release on Walsh's Clouded Vision imprint (see an in depth review HERE), Remain gives us a mix full of burners we've been waiting to get our hands on. My Favorite Robot/Turbo/More Music alum Jordan Dare on Zhao's Anozer label in particular. Look for it around the 10 minute mark. Follow that up with Minus/Items And Things artist Click Box new ish for Clouded Vision and a preview of some new Remain on Relish and this set quickly reaches set rip worthiness levels of a Joy O appearance at Boiler Room. We don't condone that ish though, sit back and enjoy the mix in it's full 320 glory while we go in deep on and interview with monsieur Remain.

Legendary post-punk band Public Image Ltd., fronted by punk icon John Lydon, recently returned to the studio to record their ninth album, This Is PiL, on which the song "I Must Be Dreaming" appears. 

Clouded Vision, the production outfit of Matt Walsh and Steve Cook, have turned out a slo-mo disco-inflected edit of "I Must Be Dreaming" and have offered their sun-drenched retake as a new episode of the Meant's free download serie.

This is the third episode of the serie after Monoblok&PSLKTR's edit of Iggy Pop's Nightclubbin' and Remain's edit of Grauzone's Eisbär (both still available on the label's soundcloud page).

A perfect accompaniment for your late summer vacations!

And keep your ears out for the next Meant release from Playhouse legends REWORK, featuring a pair of remixes from MAGDA and REMAIN!

The EP is set for release on wax next September 10th...

Matt Walsh’s inter­est in DJing and pro­duc­tion was fos­tered in the late 1990′s, while he was at uni­ver­si­ty and pro­gres­sive house was at its peak. Fast-for­ward a cou­ple of years, a new decade her­ald­ed the birth of Elec­tro­clash and with it DJ Hell’s Gigo­lo Records, City Rock­ers and Play­house. As Matt began to devel­op his trade­mark sound of mod­ern dis­co-infused elec­tron­ic house and tech­no, an offer of a res­i­den­cy at East London’s sem­i­nal T‑Bar club set off a chain of events that would lead to Tur­bo Record­ings don Tiga spot­ting him there in 2007. He then became a long term res­i­dent of Bugged Out! and Tur­bo and has since toured the globe alone and with oth­er artists.

Matt’s record label, Cloud­ed Vision Record­ings has seen releas­es from tal­ent from all cor­ners, includ­ing Red Axes, long term friend Daniel Avery and many more. His two mixed com­pi­la­tions “The Cloud­ed Vision Exper­i­ment” received crit­i­cal acclaim from Mix­mag, GQ and DJ Mag.

Since relo­cat­ing to Mar­gate in 2017, Matt has been busy opening The Tap Room and has trans­formed one of Margate’s secret spots into a boom­ing small bar, where you can expect to see local and trav­el­ling DJs play­ing every week, as well as a great mix of cock­tails and craft beer.



In 2023 Matt reignited his old clubnight "Movement" which was originally formed with Daniel Avery back in 2011. The new version is held quarterly at Faith In Strangers, Margate and the first three sold out parties have seen Erol Alkan, Daniel Avery , Optimo and Richard Fearless join Matt on the decks for the night. August will welcome Manfredas to Margate for the first time and some very exciting collaborations are to follow in 2025.

Alex ‘Kiwi’ Warren’s passion for music has been a fire that has long burned within. From humble beginnings as an in-house photographer for the world-famous DURRR club-night, started by Erol Alkan’s much celebrated Trash team, to the runaway success of his own club nights, it’s his prolific productions and genre blending extended dj sets that are now catapulting him into the spotlight .
Warren’s success as a one-man promotions company, cultivating his ever popular club-night, Orlando Boom and its disco-focussed sister night, Kate Boss, caught the attention of The Columbo Group who swiftly appointed him as their booking and promotions manager for The Nest.

Kiwi soon realised that he had more to offer than just his promoter skills and he began to channel his energy into playing and creating music. Releases on Days of Being Wild, Jack Savidge and Edwin Congreave’s highly acclaimed Deep Shit, DFTD, Optimo, Moda Black, Sneaky Music and Virgin EMI followed, and in 2015, his track Short Tail was nominated for Song Of The Year at the DJ Mag Best Of British awards. He’s produced an abundance of remixes for high-profile artists such as; Who Made Who, Locassolus, Paramida, Is Tropical, The Klaxons and more. This incredible output has earned him a wealth of support from some of the scenes biggest names including; Andrew Weatherall, DJ Harvey, Gerd Janson, Daniel Avery, Erol Alkan, Optimo, Rob da Bank, Annie Mac and Skream.

2017 saw the release of his Orca EP on Bristol’s Futureboogie imprint with the title track receiving rave reviews in Mixmag and topping the dance charts on Juno and Beatport for seven weeks. This was swiftly followed by releases on Dusky’s 17 steps, and a vinyl-only release alongside Joakim on DJ Tennis’ Life and Death. As well as being busy in the studio, Kiwi has also been out on the road touring Asia twice, North America and Europe. Add to that a packed festival season and holding down his residency at XOYO in London, Kiwi has carved out a name for himself with his all night long DJ sets that effortlessly blend balearic, disco, house, Detroit techno and everything in between.

2018 was a big one for the DJ Mag nominee, with a string of releases gaining notoriety on the likes of Moscoman’s Disco Halal and a new one for 17 Steps, as well as a return to Correspondent and releases on Cin Cin and Needwant to come.

2019 marked a pivotal milestone in Alex’s career. In April, he launched his brand new imprint Crossbreed, with the inaugural CRBD01 released in conjunction with Italy’s finest export DJ Rocca. The ethos of the label is the notion that working together breeds great things, and it is not hard to see this belief in the debut EP.

Having made a strong start with the first three collaborative releases, the label continues into 2020 as a mouthpiece to showcase records that represent Alex’s ideas; and with a knack for selecting off-kilter, leftfield releases, Crossbreed is set to make impressive waves within the electronic music scene.

Man of many solo things but also invested in a diversity of shared projects such as Slow Porn @slow-porn on La dame Noir and My Favorite Robot, Danse Alice @dansealicemusic and his latest collaborative wilderness named We Are Le Turfu @weareleturfu with @daWAd.

For the past ten years Gareth Evans has been bringing his eclectic sets to the many. At an early age he was seen cutting his teeth at Cardiff’s infamous Thursday Party CYNT and has since joined up with London parties Cubed  at the Queen of Hoxton and Chase the Compass at The Magic Roundabout.. His mix of cosmic disco, dubs, leftfield electronica as well as  reworked classics are renowned for bringing smiles all round. Closer to home he can be found in numerous venues across the city and on the air at Brighton’s very own Trickstar Radio. His bi-monthly radio show has been a great platform to show his wider tastes and his audiences will heat anything from strange records from the 80's bargain bins, jazz, funk indie and the latest cuts from his favourite labels and artists.
