DATELINE: LOS ANGELES - SHELVED "MOVE CLOSER" TERRY DEXTER COLLAB. FINDS ITS VOICE

A Monte Neuble, Marc St. Regis, Kyle Kilpatrick Original, Based Upon Real or Imagined Events, Actual Friendships, and Relatively Fixed Key & Time Signatures.

The ‘3X is in ARP (filter) mode for most of Sir Monte’s regal & always earthy bass grease. Dude is too cold for Antarctica; once the red light is on, the funk electrons flow and float. Some of that empyreal Compton groove influenced my playing and arranging… thank tha LORD. While we’re on that subject, I (MSR) played the Clav & CODE in 1st vibe, the Roland Fantom 8 Brassiness in the Power Gospel section (still needs choir), 80% of the soloing, and a touch of the triple lead magic (Roland 24dB filter)found there. Monte manned-up on the voice-misleading Keys 1 chores on the “Equally Swing” Stage and his golden, two-handed touch reemerges for the Ballad vibe, preaching from the synth bass (yet again) with the fire and yowl of ages. Listen through for his silky Gino Vannelli-ish lead lines somewhere adjacent a faux ending/beginning.

All of the "sequenced" passages feature Kyle Kilpatrick’s suave programming, and lively SE-3X Continuous Controller contouring from Ableton (& Corona, CA). We tag-teamed the live tweaking, all of which was recorded for another project, but sounding like foundation on this bounciful groove. More Kyle soon to emerge. His straight 8ths against the wily swing strength of real playing is everything.

Sound Kleckse Radio Show 0612 - CØDE8 - 2024 week 31

5 hand-crafted Boomstars built, sitting pretty in the shop… One longish walk later with terrier Teddy, brother Greg and I labored over two Boomstar 8106 basslines, which ultimately were only salvaged for parts: a 2 bar phrase played back at the wrong tempo caught our ear and inspired us properly. The ideology was to steer clear of chords, but I was drawn to Harry Connick Jr’s gorgeous CODE "revelations" (I was insane enough to speak over), which really spoke to me from our incredible and indelible July '24 SE Shop meeting of the minds.

Our 70's Childhood heirloom piano reached in deep too.

Point is, THESE BOOMSTARS ARE HEAVY DUTY! Every flavor is… startling and supremely satisfying. Remarkably warm AND snappy... such a pretty exotic hardwood wrap too.
