Donde El Gesto Habla (“Where the Gesture Speaks”) was born from an unexpected invitation to perform at an international animal-rights event. I wasn’t ready for the stage, yet the gesture—someone truly caring about my music and what it stands for—spoke louder than words.
The piece doesn’t run; it walks. Two even steps, like two hands reaching for each other. Deep down a low heartbeat holds the breath; above it, a gentle voice answers in fragments—one held word, then two whispers—climbing and descending in small steps. The wave swells, lays down, grows quiet again. And often, before it fades, it leaves a tiny falling sigh, like a softly spoken “yes.”

I’m confused, you say you care, but you refuse to do your share.
Afraid to lose, your heart is bare and lonely.
So you batten down the hatches, run with scissors, play with matches,
Wondering just what the catch is; only your side’s right.

I’m distraught, and quite distracted, what you’ve said, and how you’ve acted.
How your living has impacted those you claim to love.
Nothing seems to jive and fit, not even a little bit,
Doncha think you might’ve twisted what you’re s’posed to do.

But you’re feeling pretty good about yourself.
You’re just biding time till you reach heaven.
You’ve got all the answers down.
Confident that only you are right.
And you love to spout your knowledge of the Book

This week, Pastor Alex encourages us to choose compassion in all we do, even if the world says it’s okay to do otherwise.

Choosing Compassion

This week we dive into the implications of the sixth commandment, 'You shall not murder.' Far from being a simple prohibition, this commandment reveals a profound principle: every human life is sacred. We're challenged to see beyond mere behavior modification and embrace a transformative journey of the heart. The story of Samson serves as a cautionary tale, illustrating how unchecked anger can lead to destructive consequences. Jesus' teachings in Matthew 5 further illuminate this, showing us that anger, left unchecked, can be as damaging as murder itself. We're called to examine our hearts, interrupt cycles of anger, and actively pursue reconciliation. This message invites us to view every human interaction as laced with eternal significance, treating each person we encounter as bearing the image of God. As we reflect on this, we're encouraged to cultivate a posture of humility and actively seek to transform enemies into friends, mirroring Christ's example of absorbing violence and returning love.

I cannot say exactly how it happened, sitting all alone in my room.
The words materialized right before my very eyes. Bing, Bang, Boom.
I knew right away when I said them, these words had healing properties.
If I could spread the word, and everybody heard,
We could bring an end to needless suffering. So come on, everybody, let’s sing.

Bing, Bang, Boom. Bing, Bang, Boom.
Just as sure as the sun will be rising tomorrow, we can end the world of pain & sorrow.
So sing along with me, sing in harmony. Bing, Bang, Boom. Bing, Bang, Boom.

Right away I knew these words had power, and I knew just what I had to do.
If I could somehow find the meaning of these words of mine; Bing, Bang, Boom.
And so, I went to work, scouring journals, researching ancient manuscripts & texts.
Without getting too specific, it was there in hieroglyphics.
I had found the meaning of the first word, Bing. So come on, everybody, let’s sing.

Bing, Bang, Boom. Bing, Bang, Boom.
Just as sure as the sun will be rising tomorrow, we can end the world of pain & sorrow.
So sing along with me, sing in harmony. Bing, Bang, Boom. Bing, Bang, Boom.

Bing, it seems, means nothing more than money, not a lot, enough to meet your needs.
You can turn the page if you make a living wage, enough to stay engaged with the world around you.
Bang apparently just means freedom. That’s one thing that everybody needs
When I say everybody, that’s exactly what I mean. Not just some, but everybody.

Boom just means exactly what it sounds like. I think they call that onomatopoeia.
It’s like that moment when you hear, and understand. Bing, Bang, Booyah!
And so the key to peace and understanding is money in your pocket, living free.
So, if you think you can help the world to understand,

Echoes of Healing

The power of a gazelle is to run. The animal has a light touch but runs with great force. The compassion ministry of Jesus was like that: a light touch but great power, and Jesus built his way up to the cross with an aura of deep compassion for us, such that when we consider Christ's sacrifice for our sins on the cross, we think of his compassion. In Acts 9:32-43, Luke recorded the continuation of that ministry through Peter and Tabitha. The impact of compassion, like a herd of gazelles, runs and runs, long after the deed is done, even after our deaths. For Christ's sake, we can let our compassion run and leave a mark for him that lasts long after we are gone.
