"Starseed Child" is the second release from the Copenhagen-based duo J Sliwa consisting of artists lighyer and jjjacob. The EP is a new direction for the duo as it engages with a more dreamy and emotional expression of sound by means of including hyperpop melodies, reverbed autotune vocals and uncanny sound effects. This transformation in style was inspired by alien encounters, psychedelic journeys and the current situation we as humans stand in and before. The alienation and isolation brought on by the global pandemic inspired the duo to look inward and engage with their affective landscapes artistically, giving them hope and grounding in times of challenge and intense complexity.

This EP is the only release from the duo in the last two years since their debut EP on THRDEYEVSN "Eternal Now", described as a melancholic dream trance excursion into the ecstatic europop and gothic dance of the 00s. Their debut EP "Eternal Now" received attention from media platforms such as Resident Advisor and AQNB, which led to bookings by crews Sutra Club (Belgrade) and Soul Feeder (Milan). Apart from this, the duo has recently made contributions to compilations from labels Rhizome, kepasaparadoks and katharsis.

"Starseed Child" will be released on the 22nd of November through jjjacob's label katharsis, including an exquisite video for the track "Angels of Love" made by the talented Morph-affiliated CGI-duo Organs named they like you.

In this title, the complexity of the world is meant to musically describe the fact that everything is connected to everything else. This often makes the depiction of problems and their solutions very difficult, as it is often impossible to recognise the effects of a change down to the smallest detail. And at the same time, it should be warning enough for us that there are very rarely totally simple solutions to very complex problems, no matter how much we wish there were.
To emphasise the versatility, many different instruments are used here, which are rarely combined with each other. Organ, rhythmic pan flute patterns, electric guitar, classical drums, more experimental rhythms, electronic bass arpeggios, strings and some sound effects are used here. I also wanted to stay in the groove rhythmically, but also combine unexpected, contrasting runs of the instruments. Later on, this is replaced by an organ run with classically altered keys.

One year had passed since the devastation of mankind. All life ravaged by the undead plague, a tide of death sweeping across the planet mercilessly, as the ever-growing mass of the lifeless swelled in its wake. The sentient population of the globe was reduced to pitiful numbers, hiding in the wreckage of once vibrant cities, long since destroyed in the futile battle for survival. Where once there was hope for survival, now remained only the ember of a desperate memory of a different future. The cycle of the dead was ever in motion, their ragged forms roaming in packs, haunting the urban desolation. Ever-dimming senses of their terminal animated corpses constantly ready to consume the living. An endless yearning to feed drove them relentlessly onwards through the desolate shadows of civilization’s end, whilst the earth below those skulking feet continued its galactic voyage obliviously. Above one such horde, a celestial alignment was unfurling in the cold depths of space. As the sun burned blood red against the horizon and the moon slid serenely across its infernal face, the light dimmed as heavy shade drew across planet. The shuffling of the horde paused as distant poured their anguish into the sky at the early arrival of night. Rotting faces raised to the heavens, the light of that unholy corona spilling across their putrid features. The dying rays of a bleak sunset penetrating their rotting sockets, as the SOLAR ECLIPSE leveled darkness upon the earth with raging eternal might.
